Genocide in Indonesia (cont.)
Basically what happened ia there was a failed coup (a violent and illegal seizure of power from a government) occurred and a few military generals were killed. The president, Sukarno, blamed the coup on communists, He then gave official permission for a hunt for those responsible. This of course resulted in about 600,000 people accused of being communists to be killed.
