One of my darker pieces from Folktale Week.⁠ Kelpies are Scottish shape-shifting fey of lakes and rivers. Sometimes a man and sometimes a horse and never to be trusted.⁠

Basically the plot is about a girl who is forced to walk towards a car by a man who is pressing a gun into her back and covering it from the strangers' eyes. The story is about how she tries to look right into the strangers' eyes (who are passing by) and trying to scream for help through eye-contact but... none of them get it. :c

OC idea: Cult leader who has made her cult massive and a true force to be reckoned with, and she’s truly invested and brimming with faith for what she preaches, but it turns out she had a gas leak in her home and was hallucinating due to carbon monoxide poisoning, so after she has it fixed, she immediately comes to her senses, whispers “oh god what the hell did I do” and now has to deal with the sprawling underground cult she brought into the world, except she’s a regular, reasonable person now.

When a herbalist saves a mischievous pixie from a trap, the grateful creature grants him a wish. Instead of asking for wealth or power, he asks the pixie to help him find his true love, not knowing that love could be closer than he thinks.

She stayed up all night finishing the embroidery of her gown and then spent the entire ball talking about the techniques she used and how long it took her

She slapped the visiting Prince's hand when he touched her shoulder because "that took me hours and I don't know where your hands have been!"

One of her maids introduced her to weaving and now she's skipping her lessons on statecraft to dye her own wool

She asked for a flock of sheep of her own for her birthday

Her quarters look like a textile goods shop

She hired a new maid to teach her lacemaking

She is the happiest she's ever been and her parents just want to her pay attention in her diplomacy lessons
