Hera's near future is pretty bleak. The blood, sweat, and tears she put into the Rebellion and the New Republic are about to come crumbling down with the Senate hearing. Ahsoka, the very person she was told to bring with her to Coruscant, is currently talking to Space Whales in hopes that her [Ahsoka] and Huyang can hop into its mouth and go on an intergalactic journey. But she is still able to be calm and hopeful as her son looks on to the Purrgil - she almost looks awestruck along with Jacen.

And as Jacen recounts the stories she used to tell him - how Ezra saved the day with Purrgil, saved them - Hera has a very bittersweet look. This must be her first time seeing the Purrgil since Ezra left and that feeling of fear and hopelessness as she watched him get taken away must be rushing back to her. At the same time, she's sharing this moment with the child she was pregnant with when Ezra disappeared with the Purrgil, the child he helped save. Jacen is looking on with wonder because all of these stories he's heard are coming to life but these are memories for Hera - memories that she sometimes rather forget because they carry much pain but she's allowing herself to remember them for the sake of the moment and her son.

When Jacen makes the connection of what Ahsoka is trying to do - that she's going to use the Purrgil to try to get to Ezra (and Sabine) - Hera's "That's the hope, kiddo" is delivered with such softness that it's almost at a whisper. It's like she can't believe that she's at this moment - that she is so close to seeing Ezra again. So close to seeing her two boys meeting which has been a dream of hers since even before Jacen was born. And she's looking at Jacen with so much love because she knows this must mean the galaxy to Jacen. To see Purrgil, to see Ahsoka in action, and he knows that he's closer than ever to meeting Ezra. However, there is still sadness behind her expression because this might be another cruel trick of the force. Maybe Ahsoka is about to embark on a fruitless mission and she'll never return and Hera has not only lost Ezra forever, but Sabine as well.

But there is no time to dwell on that - she has the warn the NR fleet about the jump that's about to happen. The bittersweet feeling comes back as she knows she can't go with Ahsoka - that she can't be the one who brings her kids home. But then Ahsoka reassures her and promises Hera that she will find Ezra and Sabine. And despite the fact she might get her command stripped, that she might never see Sabine, Ezra, or Ahsoka again, that her son might have his heart broken if they never come back - despite it all, she has hope. And isn't hope the most Hera Syndulla thing to have? So as Ahsoka and Huyang are about to go on their unknown journey, with all the hope in the universe, Hera is able to give her final goodbye;
