like donna and dick will always make me want to throw myself off of a cliff. sandbox best friends. this is the person that i learnt to be a hero with. this is the person who knows who i am even if continuity is constantly rewriting my story. this is the person who knows me even as mantles and cities polish away my identity. you may not know who you are, but i know you are my best friend. it feels like there's never been a moment where i didn't know you. banging my head against the wall.

Mullets and Sweet Caresses

Jason Todd x Reader

Jason Todd gets much needed haircut and cuddles.

"Bruce says I need to get a haircut," Jason said as he shook his head, letting the white strands of his bangs fall into his face. The movement was cute and you couldn't help but let out a laugh as he moved them away only for each strand to fall right back into place.

He looked down and gave you a grin.

You snorted, reaching up to stroke his hair from where you lay in his lap.

"Well as adorable as I find your rebellious strands, he does have a point you know," you replied with a smile.

Jason shrugged nonchalantly. "The helmet holds most of it back anyways."

You laughed again before pushing off him so that you were kneeling in front of him. You reached out to trace your fingers along the scar that rested on his cheek. A small smile tugged at your lips as you did, but it quickly faded when you remembered how he got that scar in the first place.

"Well you're not always wearing your helmet," you said quietly.

His eyes met yours through his dark lashes, the emotion in them deep. Then without another word, he pushed himself off the bed and headed toward the kitchen.

He disappeared for a moment before returning with a pair of kitchen shears, handing them to you as he drew closer. You took them from him gently and motioned toward the bathroom. He gave you a small nod and followed you inside, taking a seat on the edge of the bathtub.

When you moved to stand between his legs, he wrapped his arms around you and buried his face against your shirt. You sighed softly, putting the scissors down on the counter to run your fingers through his hair.

You slowly ran your nails over his scalp letting them drift down to his neck. You hummed lightly as you approached the scar that you knew was left by the outer ridge of his helmet. Jason's body stilled, tensing beneath your touch before relaxing again as you traced it gently.

He leaned into your touch more, letting out a soft groan. Your lips curled into a gentle smile as you continued upward, combing back the hair that framed his face.

After a few more minutes of silence, you broke off from him with a sigh.

He turned to look up at you, concern flashing across his features before you smiled.

"How do you feel about a mullet?" you teased, grabbing the kitchen shears from where they rested on the counter.

Jason raised an eyebrow.

"Are those making a comeback?"

You nodded encouragingly.

He smirked.

"Alright then."

You watched as he closed his eyes as you carefully sectioned off parts of his hair. The longest of sections reached just above his shoulders.

Your fingers lingered on his white strands in the front, smoothing them out as he breathed steadily.

You then moved on to cutting each section into the lengths you needed. The process was a familiar one, both because you had done it countless times before and because you were comfortable in each other's presence.

You paused to grab his electric razor from your shared cabinet and began buzzing the sides to frame his face. Once that was finished you brushed as much of the fallen strands off into the tub before motioning for him to lean back so you could begin washing his hair.

You worked methodically, carefully massaging shampoo into his hair and working your fingers through his curls. Once rinsed you helped him stand before tossing him a towel and walking back towards the bedroom.

Jason dried off and paused to hang the towel up before following after you. He sat beside you on the bed and waited while you situated your head back on his lap. This time he started running his hands gently through your hair, letting the strands flow through his fingers.

It wasn't long before your eyes fluttered closed and you began drifting off. But before sleep took you completely, you opened your eyes to glance up at your boyfriend, his gaze focused on his movements as he ran his hand through your hair.

He stopped once he realized you were looking at him.

"Thank you."

You smiled and he returned to his ministrations, leaning back just enough for you to maneuver your head against his chest.

“You look sexy with a mullet.” You said, causing him to laugh.

Returning to his ministrations you sighed happily, breathing in the sweet smell of his shampoo before falling asleep.
