have another moment for the ledgers, catalogs, and records that were burned and the homes that were destroyed to hide the presence of very much alive and still enslaved people on dozens of plantations and homesteads across the south for decades after emancipation.

and have a third moment for those who were hunted and killed while fleeing the south to find safety across the border, overseas, in the north and to the west.

black people. light a candle, write a note to those who have passed telling them what you have achieved in spite of the racist and intolerant conditions of this world, feel the warmth of the flame under your hand, say a prayer of rememberance if you are religious, place the note under the candle, and then blow it out.

if you have children, sit them down and tell them anything you know about the life of oldest black person you've ever met. it doesn't have to be your own family. tell them what you know about what life was like for us in the days, years, decades after emancipation. if you don't know much, look it up and learn about it together.

happy pride! my wife and i are, as always, in need of aid to get through the month! my rent goal for last month ($400) never got reached, which is Nawt Great, and now i have to come up with my wife and i's share of June Rent ($963.33) so that we can hopefully transition to new, much lower-cost and much more accessible housing moving forward. i NEED to make sure this gets paid off by the end of this month, so that way my wife and i can make the transition into our new housing and finally wash our hands of our shithole property management company. we have both been making strides to be able to make money so we can stay afloat and keep our housing (including my decision to return to working a traditional retail/food service job part time so that i can have extra money coming in towards rent and other bills). current goal for rent is $1363.33, and i NEED to have this met asap. as always, direct contributions are the Most Helpful, but tips on ko-fi and subscriptions on patreon also go a long way! (we also have an amazon wishlist with stuff we need that we cant normally afford to buy, and things we just want).
