Romana: And what about you, Pandora? Do you still believe you can regain your title through me?
Pandora: The choice will be yours alone, Romanadvoratrelundar.
Romana: Good. Well, I'm glad you accept that. Because if I did become Imperiatrix, it would be in my own right, and for my own good reasons. You have no hold over me, Pandora, I will not be a vessel for your ambitions.
Pandora: My voice will whisper only advice and support.
Romana: And with your eye on the future I could guide Gallifrey into an age of reason, of enlightenment, but only if I accept the ends justify the means. That I should become everything that I abhor.
Pandora: You will act as you think best, though the cost to yourself may be high.
Romana: No. I won't do it. If Darkel wants to challenge me then so be it. I'll fight her on my own terms, with reason, and I will win. Nothing to say Pandora? No more words to tempt me?
Pandora: You will do what you think best.
Romana: That's right. And I don't need you to tell me what that is. I think I've learnt all I can from you, Pandora, and all I need to know. We won't speak again.

We should open the Academy to non-Gallifreyans. This whole experience has made me think the Time Lords should be less parochial.

Sartia: Does the High Council know you're here? Sooner or later runaways always get caught.
Doctor: I've done my time.
Sartia: I was talking about Mana.
Doctor: After you killed the god of the wavewalkers, Mana was ready to take the blame.
Sartia: ...I know. I'm sorry.

Doctor: Romana, you didn't kill their god, did you?
Romana: It was an accident, I'm sorry.
Doctor: Ah! Romana, you realise you've just invented deicide? A new deadly sin.

`The Doctor will be killed if he runs into this group by himself.` Vansell didn't sound at all unhappy at the prospect. `Get together as many men as you can muster.` Romana instructed. `Reliable ones you can trust. No,` she corrected quickly. `Reliable ones /I/ can trust.`

Taylor! Thank Rassilon, I thought I was too late. Taylor, listen to me, I know what you're trying to do, but listen to me-- Taylor! Where are you? ...Who are you? What are you doing down here? I should warn you, I am armed with a staser! I'm Andredaselus of the House of Deeptree, Castellan of the Arcalian Chapter of Gallifrey, and I order you to show yourself! ...That's better. Now, step in to the light so I can-- ...Do I know you? Wait-- you-- you can't be. Madam President... Romana? Is that y-- What are you--

Andred: Sometimes I look at the things I've done, the person I've been and I'm ashamed of myself.
Leela: Then why do you do those things?
Andred: I don't know! You were right, I'm not the man you married. Somewhere between my regeneration and my masquerade as Torvald, that man got lost, but he's trying to find his way back. He's trying to find his way back to you.
Leela: Romana mentioned something about post... post regenerative trauma. Sounds to me as if you are just weak.
Andred: What do I do, Leela? So many people have tried to tell me, I don't know who to listen to, I don't know who to trust anymore, I know I can't trust myself. But I trust you, Leela. Tell me what to do and I'll do it. Tell me how I can put things right.
Leela: The man I knew would not have had to ask.

Leela: Talk? You will soon tire of me talking, my words are too small for your big brain.
Romana: You're not stupid, Leela! And you're not a whining ninny either. So I can only conclude from your recent behaviour that you're experiencing a considerable amount of pain.
Leela: Do you not have a magic machine that can tell you exactly?
Romana: /Leela/ I thought that this would be good for you. I've come to accept you as a valuable asset-
Leela: Asset? Is that what I am, your asset?
Romana: Alright then- a friend. Someone I have come to trust.
Leela: [storming off] Trust has no meaning on your world.
Romana: Leela!

Braxiatel: Now, clearly, Pandora must be removed from the Matrix. Work is in hand and the situation will be resolved.
Darkel: And in the President's absence, it seems, Cardinal Braxiatel.
Narvin: The President did under go a considerable ordeal.
Darkel: As did you by all accounts, Narvin, and yet here you remain, you know your duty.

Hallan: You're alien! Ephemeral! No better than that savage in skins. I am a Time Lord. I could no more care for you than I could care for a fly buzzing past my face.
Leela: Hello, Hallan.
Hallan: Oh. Ahem. Leela, I, um, I didn't know you were there.
Leela: We "ephemeral aliens like flies" are not always easy to predict. [Leela kicks him, Hallan groans] The fly can bite, Hallan! For a few fleeting beats of your loft hearts, feel its sting on your skin! Are you alright, Mellian? I came here to pay my respects to the Broken Man- a brave man and loyal, I did not mean to-
Mellian: Oh, please don't apologise, Miss Leela, I wouldn't have missed that for anything.
Leela: They can bewitch with a glance, these ones, fan fires you did not know burned inside you.

Leela: I do not want Andred to find me, it is I who must find him. Am I so helpless?
Romana: Leela-
Leela: Yes. Here in these stifling sunless rooms of yours, perhaps I am. I have only one body, this one, I cannot change it. It will not wear your clothes or walk your stilted pathways. I have only one voice inside me, this one, and my words can never be as clever as yours. I have only one mind and it is steadfast but small next to yours, I cannot grasp the games you play with people and their lives and I do not wish to!
Romana: They're not games I choose to play. I'm trying to defend myself, trying to protect my world.
Leela: Yes. It is your world and not mine. I have lived here for many years but it has never been my home and I am unhappy.
Romana: Do you wish to leave Gallifrey?
Leela: ...Yes.
Romana:...Then so be it.
