Just saw I still have my "Under Construction" banner up.
Tempted to leave it there just for shits and giggles at this point, like some kind of "well yeah I'm always improving" sorta thing

Honestly this is relatable and it hurts but you will absolutely find new friends. There will be someone who likes you for who you are, instead of who you pretend to be in "normal" society.
The problem I've run into is that sometimes those people are also pretty antisocial (like me) and have a hard time going out of their way to talk with one another.
But you will find them, you just have to go out of your comfort zone to truly befriend them.
I am so close to losing my only 2 friends because I can't mask as well as I used to and the few times I have tried unmasking around them just to test the waters, I was met with some "you-are-being-weird-and-normal-people-dont-act-like-that" bullshit. I am not bothered at all because the more we drift apart, the lighter I feel.
I will try make some new friends as the unmasked me. How hard can it be?? 馃ぁ 馃ぁ

Okay but like, can we talk about how easy XIV healing is?
In the early game, your 400/450 is your best option. It heals around 1/3 your target's HP, and only really needs to be cast if the tank is hurting pretty badly, which will only happen if they're going wall-to-wall or if you're focusing on damage.
Then you get your 2nd level healing. It either heals for quite a bit, or gives a shield. If you're a pure healer, you heal your tank when they need it. If you're a shield healer, you heal your tank with the shield spell in order to help stymy additional damage, and in big pulls, you weave it and your 1st level heal, which in essence acts as a good way to counteract the big damage while the DPSs cut down on the number of mobs so you can get to doing damage.
Then the healers diverge, and you go with whatever you feel most comfortable with:
White Mages get MANY ways to decrease damage taken, and ways to profiteer off of their expensive, yet very effective heal spells. Also Afflatus Misery is the most based spell in the entire game just because of how its charges are described (by casting your other Afflatus spells, you nourish the blood lily.)
Scholars get many effects that augment some of their spells or abilities, changing how their spells work and for what purpose (Some spells can be made to only heal, you can spread shields given from one player to everyone in a radius around you, some spells are made to critically hit on the spot), and also have a fairy for passive heals and the occasional snack (eating the fairy gives you 20% better healing potential but it's on a 2 minute cooldown)
Astrologians sacrifice damage dealing for many, many, many party buffs and have a lot of effects that will just sit around until you activate them. They can also make it so their spells cast one GCD faster, without changing the recast time, just in case someone REALLY needs instant heals instead of waiting the requisite 1.5 seconds.
Sages do damage, and the act of doing damage also heals your tank, but only if you remember your Kardia. They also have a bar that recharges a lily-but-not every 20 seconds, spells that cost a charge to do instant heals and/or damage reduction, and a secondary resource that recharges on your shields breaking and lets your basic attacks cast for essentially free with the added bonus of being slightly AoE. Oh also you get a big damn laser that hits everything in a line and also heals everything around you for a LOT. AND it heals your Kardia target.
If this sounds like a lot, it's not. You have 90 levels (100 as of Dawntrail) to learn everything, and it's not too difficult to run particular duties to learn the timing for each effect and when to use it. Ultimately, each class defaults to "Use your non-MP spells/abilities with the lowest cooldowns when available, and move up to higher-CDs as necessary."
But you still do damage when you can. Depending on how far you are on learning your chosen class, the discrepancy between "when you can do damage" and "when you should do damage" increases dramatically.
Oh, also, additional little tip: The Pure Healers (WHM / AST) have ways to cheat out their Raise spells. For WHM, you can make your Raise cost zero MP. Instead of 2400. And for AST, you can cut down the 8 second cast time to 5.5 with an ability that's on a 40 second cooldown. This is just in case something bad happens and you need to rez multiple people in quick succession.
Yo if you don't like healing, FFXIV is actually designed so you don't have to
I don't know why lately it seems like I keep running into healers who are allergic to healing/raising

I cannot put into words how much I hate Autism Speaks. There are plenty of high-functioning (I know we tend to not use that word anymore but for the SAKE of the argument I'm going to bring it back) autistics who, if given ample time to prepare a speech, would be able to get through the entirety of the speech without issue.
But Autism Speaks isn't interested in what an autistic person has to say. To them, autism is not a spectrum, it is akin to mental retardation. They display an almost pornographic fascination with displaying the faults of some of the most extreme cases of autism in such a way that paints ALL of the Autism Spectrum as just like that.
It's a bunch of neuronorms wheeling up some non-verbal children and going "Hey look at the autists, everybody! We know what they're going through! We get them!" and when a single autistic person who DOES speak verbally calls them out, they double back and go "OH WE KNOW IT'S A SPECTRUM, CALM DOWN"
From what I understand as of late, their board of directors still does not incorporate a substantial number of members with autism, and while I appreciate that they recently brought on a doctor with a history of autism research, the puzzle piece still remains a problematic symbol, depending on who you ask: It could be a missing piece, or it could be a piece that doesn't fit with the rest of the puzzle. Either way it spreads one of two messages: "Autistic people are less complete than normal people", or "Autistic people don't belong in the rest of the puzzle".
I get the intent is that it's supposed to be "Autistic people are just another piece of the puzzle of humanity", but the fact of the matter is, TO THE AUTISM BRAIN, it's not taken that way.
And if they cared, they would have gone out of their way to fix that.
And if you want to "light it up," please do red, not blue. When we see the puzzle piece or "light it up blue," both of which are promoted by anti-autistic hate groups, that tells us you don't actually care about or respect us.
Not gonna argue about this; I'll just block.

The "Lorekeeper" Limited Job was canceled for the 6.45 release because it would require the game to read any and all Final Fantasy saved games you have on your device, and testers were worried that bad actors could leak sensitive information.

Paradox highlighting your Astral/Umbral stacks with Paradox needles one by one until you can cast Catastrophe, an 800 potency GCD that replaces Fire IV. It drains your MP and takes you out of Astral/Umbral, but makes your next Blizzard III cast without costing MP
