Roy Harper & Piercings

There’s not enough Roy love or ideas out there. I just finished reading the Arsenal special (1996) and he’s just been catching strays :(

I think that if comic book writers and artists could expand more on a previous character's appearance, there would be more tattoos and piercings involved. However, that’s not really the case.

Here’s my personal headcanon on what types of piercings Roy would have since he got tattoos already.

Nose: I think he’d have a simple nostril piercing, but the jewel would be a small star because Lian picked it out for him. It’s silver with even smaller gems covering the shape.

Mouth: I feel like an ashley, snake bite and tongue piercing would match his charm. The ashley piercing would be small, round with a blueish black tint so it stands out from his complexion. The snake bit would be similar in design but thinner and have more of a shine. I don’t think he’d wear them all the time considering his job so he’d have those clear plastic ones. The tongue piercing would be a bright blue, one that’s almost cyan. It easily catches anyone’s eyes and can derail a conversation.

Ears: A simple lobe, upper lobe and industrial would be his go two. It would mirror both sides. The upper lobe was done when Lian was getting her ears pierced and they did them together so she wouldn’t feel so alone. The industrial is there because he found a cool angel wing design and couldn’t help himself.

These are just little think pieces I had about him because he was in a band so I thought that was cool too.

Kids show on blast

Have you guys seen the new backyardigans!?? I’ve been wheezing ever since I saw the reboot. Inspired by an interaction u had with my sister’s husband and child. Also a friend of mine in class.

You and Jason just came back from visiting a family member's house. They had a young child who was practically glued to their tv.

Jason couldn’t understand how a show with little animals going on crazy adventures… in their backyard, could teach a kid anything. He never had something like this growing up, with bright colours and catchy tunes. Not that he remembered.

“What was the one with the pink body? Looked like a bug almost.” Jason voiced from behind. You didn’t even realize he got that close.

“Uh- oh! You mean Uniqua?” Her name clicked into your head while you were stirring the pot on the stove. He made a sound of agreement before making his way towards the couch and turning on the tv.

“What channel is that show on?” Jason muttered out. He was just pressing buttons at this point and hoping he found what he wanted to watch.

“It’s station 1560, it’s probably on around now- you know, since kids are back home from school.” You mentioned more like a joke, moving towards the cupboards and pulling two bowls out for dinner. You wanted to get that out of your way because Jason was taking you out for a late night ride.

You could hear the faint voice of Austin and Tasha talking. You turned to face Jason's direction, just for a few seconds but you were mesmerized by how focused he was. Both elbows were on his knees, mouth tightly closed and humming along to the song.

You figured that Jason never got the chance to watch anything aimed for kids given his rough childhood, but what confused you was how entertained he was with the program right after bashing it earlier that day.

You tore your eyes away from the scene and grabbed the two bowls and brought them over to Jason. He straightened his position and held his hand out for the stew.

“Sorry, I didn't think a pirate treasure hunt would be so entertaining.” He chuckled but he wasn’t facing you.

“The songs are catchy and help kids grow their imagination.” You hummed and grabbed a spoonful to eat. You enjoyed seeing Jason finding a gem you had in your childhood.

Jason looks out of place

That’s something Jason thinks to himself all the time when he stays at your place.

Jason looks like an action figure stuck in a teenage girl's bedroom. He’s about 182 centimeters, big and bulky. His clothes make him even bigger than he really is.

Your queen size bed is covered in a black fitted sheet, a dark red comforter and a leopard throw blanket. He looks like a shy pimp laying in your bed napping. Your dresser has lotions, perfumes, body sprays and photos all across the top. Your walls are painted a dark colour, with art to match the vibe.

You have shelves of comics and trinkets all over the place. Somehow, your jelly cat (which he got for you) and crocheted stuffies are pushed onto the ground on the other half of your room. Your bedroom is somewhat small too so he looks even funnier in your head.

You make your way into your bathroom where you see some of his stuff in there. Toothbrush, cologne, towels, and other little things. You can't help but smile because even though he claims he doesn’t want to move in with you, you can tell he at least finds comfort in you, a home. When you walk into your closet, you see your things in there and Jason’s. He has his own row in there filled with button up shirts, hoodies, pants and boots. You can’t bring this up because he’ll start deflecting and apologizing for taking up space.

In your kitchen, he has his own mug that he drinks out of. Slightly cracked and chipped in a few places but he doesn’t have the heart to throw it away. He has spices that he uses the most compared to you. A frying pan he makes breakfast for the two of you. He made your kitchen his own in different ways, from utensils to aprons.

Your living room has books thrown around on the coffee table and end table. All the books have been thoroughly loved and used, not by you, but Jason. A throw blanket he uses when he comes home late but for some reason won't wake you. You can beg a plea but he won’t disturb your sleep, even if his late night naps do bother you.

A secret he keeps from you, not because it's necessarily bad but, a gun strapped underneath your coffee table, somewhere in the kitchen, and your bedroom closet are there for “just in case.” You know about them, but you don’t have the heart to tell him. If it keeps his mind at ease, you’re happy they are there. If he does decide to officially move in with you, locks, and windows would need to be updated, right after he’d put in cameras.

Jason thinks he looks out of place in your world, but he couldn’t be more wrong. He’s right where he’s supposed to be. Loved, accepted, and at peace.

He probably overthinks often, let’s be honest here. He’d be surprised by how much you care for him, even though you tell him all the time. I find that people love the dynamic of Jason just being loved so I might write more of that.

Jason’s different hair length

First time I’m writing so any input would be helpful!

When Jason buzz cuts his hair, you can't help but giggle. He’s more sensitive when it comes to you touching his head. He loves the way your nails scratch at his head, especially the nape of his neck. He finds it easier to take care of his hair like this because it isn't in his way. You can see the white streak of hair easier because it's so low. It looks like a small bald spot depending on the angle. Something he doesn’t like about this look is how you can see the scars on his head more.

Jason’s hair is typically longer in the front than it is in the back, but that's something you love too. This is where twirling his hair and randomly braiding it is his favourite way to end the day. He purrs into your touch and you always end up using your hair creams in his head. He finds the task of combing it to be a bit tedious but it somehow works well with his charm when it's all neat. The white streak is more present, and at times gets lost in the sea of black. Jason likes knowing that his scars aren't that visible.

Overall, he doesn’t mind what his hair looks like because he knows you’ll love it either way. Sometimes it’s cut for a mission, and other times it’s just because he saw the shears and went at it.

I think my favorite thing about being in the Green Arrow fandom is how peaceful it is. You don't have people arguing who's the best in the Arrowfam. You don't have people yelling about how a one character is bad and evil incarnate. You don't have people tearing down one character to raise another. Everyone in the Arrowfam fandom loves all the members and supports them. Thank You Arrowfam fandom. Keep being awesome! ❤️
