We know that you all are waiting patiently for the challenge to begin. While artists work, we are giving writers the opportunity to warm up for the upcoming challenge!

We are going to be giving you A Drabble A Day prompts. Each day, expect 3 prompts. You may choose your favorite prompt or use all three to create a drabble!

This challenge is 100% optional. This is not a mandatory part of the Reverse Bang, and you don’t have to participate every single day in order to be involved.

You may use the prompts to inspire a traditional drabble (100 words exactly) or a short story of any length! Our only rule is that you keep any NSFW content out of your fic, as this drabble event is part of the Reverse Bang. Post the results wherever you like.

If you post your drabbles, we’d greatly appreciate a little shout out to the Reverse Bang so we can bring more writers onboard! If you need some inspiration, here is an example below:

🌈 Kat (she/they) is a junior mod for GabeNath Events. She has been a fan of Miraculous since early 2020. They are participating in this event, and have been both a writer and artist for previous events. Her taste in characters range from old men to cute and adorable creatures. She is an avid cartoon fan, loving such shows like Miraculous (obviously), King of the Hill, South Park, Animaniacs and more. 🥁 Sign-ups for the Gabenath Reverse Bang 2023 are open! 🥁

Hi! I'm fairly new to fandom in general so I'm not quite sure the basic concept of a reverse bang; is the concept that artists make a piece and then writers make a fic based off the piece? Do artists and writers get paired up and decide what to do together, or is it specifically artists do their part then writers do something based on it? And if so, how much communication will there be between writers and artists?

Welcome to the fandom, and thank you for your question!

Your first guess is correct — artists will first create a piece. It will be whatever they want, as long as it is GabeNath inspired!

After that, writers will view all the art pieces without knowing which artist created which piece. They will then complete a claims process in which they try to "claim" their favorite piece, and the mods will make matches based on the writers' top 5 pieces to make sure that each individual artist is matched with a writer.

Once artists and writers are matched, we will reveal the teams. At this point, writers will write a fic inspired by the art piece they chose. Writers and artists are encouraged to communicate with each other throughout the writing process. For the most part, the writer has creative freedom to do what they want, as long as the art piece fits into their story. However, artists will be allowed to set some limits on the content of the fic, especially when it comes to triggers. Writers will be able to view these restrictions before they make "claims" on any art.

I hope this explains the process in better depth and clears up any confusion! But if you have any additional questions, please feel free to send us another ask.

When it comes to the art piece, is it required that both Gabriel and Nathalie are in it? Or are we allowed to submit a piece focusing on just one of them with like the other character implied/referenced in some way?

Gabriel and Nathalie are not both required to be in it. We only ask that your artwork is suitable for a GabeNath fanfiction.

The most important thing to ask yourself is this: could an author use this art to inspire a story with GabeNath in it? It's okay if your piece is more family-focused or if it centers on one half of the pairing, as long as your author is able to include GabeNath in their fanfic!

Innovating new ideas to streamline and improve our process

Organizing challenge documents and schedules

Moderating the Discord server

Helping participants with questions and concerns

Boosting morale

Advertising and improving our online presence

Assisting with graphic design

Contributing to Tumblr posts and checking the askbox

Managing the claims process

Planning future challenges and events

We do not expect any one person to do these single-handedly. If you can meaningly contribute to a couple of these tasks, we would love to hear from you!

Ideally, candidates will have some of these traits:

Professional and positive

A team player

Well-organized

Creative

Some experience with managing social media

In addition, we are also looking for mods who do not have interest in participating in the challenges themselves. If you love the GabeNath fandom but are not a writer or artist, and you are looking for other ways to be active, please don’t take yourself out of the running! This is especially helpful for claims, which is an anonymous process. We always need more administrative-focused mods.

Please keep in mind that we don’t expect expertise in every single area. If you feel that you add something to the team, even with little experience, we’d love to hear from you.

If you are interested in applying, please do so as soon as possible. We will start a casual “interview” process as soon as we start receiving applications. Depending on the amount of applications, we may not be able to respond to every individual, but we thank you in advance for your interest in being a part of our team!
