Although cyan flowers and fireflies peacefully wavered through every path of Waterfall, Papyrus was shaking, terrified. His brother's eyes were empty and his face was scrunched in agiation, teeth clenched even tighter. "c'mon, say something!" "S-SANS..."

Papyrus reflexively closed his eyes, filled to the brim with tears. Just looking at him made the younger feel a sense of panic and his vision started to become unsteady. After the years he grew up feeling lonely, he wanted to stay with his family even if their relationship had become unbearable. Sans was never a good brother, ever, and he grew more and more abusive every month until it became every day and then every hour. But he hinted strangely and subtly about a resignation he had experienced at some point in his life, and Papyrus, no matter what, would always do whatever he could to please his dissatisfaction. But he was not enough for him. And never would be enough for him. Papyrus looked at his brother once again, waiting for him to give the final blow he knew he had been holding. He gave a painful but genuine smile and felt more tears in his eyes seeping out. He gazed at him, eyes opened with acceptance. "I..." He finally worded out in a quiet and pitiful tone. "I'M SO TIRED, SANS... BUT IF THIS WILL MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER..."

And the human souls became attached to their skeleton bodies (like Mettaton's ghost in a robot). So they're like monsters with human souls instead of monster souls.
