Feeling good, actually released a thing, actually networking with furry musicians again. Looking forward to doing some more of this kinda thing, maybe with a little tiny less graphic design work, but I know I won't be able to stop myself next time.

Thinking of like a scratchy loose-leaf paper feel and drawings popping out of the notebook. Digital crayons, lightning bolts. Something grungier.

Now, not to say "choices matter" gamers can't enjoy what they do, but I think there's a weird tone in some "choices matter" discussion that suggests a loss of artistic integrity, in favour of giving the audience something easier to digest.

Like, some players want the story tailored to them, which is cool, and is done well. But there'll always be some decision that feels arbitrary, non-optional, and it will feel like the game betrayed them, not the characters in the story.

I've come around on (kinetic) VNs. I realize some people are just fantastic writers. I don't need an empty husk to inhabit, I just want good characters to follow around. Making choices for them feels like their character is dispensable.

It's weird though, I consider minimally-interactive games worth my time and money. For a lot of people, that's just not what they want. This is the best timeline. I just wish more gamers could see the value in games where you are given less to do.
