Sketchbook Entry 13: Find an example of Postmodern Design. Explain why it qualifies as “Postmodern”.
Above is a Postmodern design created by Paulo Canabarro. The piece can be classified as postmodern "pop art" because it utilizes popular culture imagery by combining unrelated material which in this particular piece is the grid that is used. This piece is also a "pastiche" because it imitates the work of a previous artist featuring Marilyn Monroe. Because this piece utilizes these elements of Postmodernism the piece can be classified as "Postmodern".

Sketchbook Entry 14: This is a poorly designed information graphic for the Muni Bus transit system in San Francisco. Too many colors of a similar spectrum are used making it confusing to see the different transit lines. The number logos used also distract the viewer and are too big. Overall, too much is going on here for me to be able to read this efficiently when on the go, or lost in the city.

A Mutating Logo For A Lab, Based On Parasites, Viruses, and Bacteria
This interesting read on a new logo for a lab can be found here. Second row far right was my favorite out of the group. The colorful new mark for the Bloomsbury Institute for Pathogen Research combines three graphical representations of the center’s various fields of research

Infographic: Here’s How To Make Airplanes Ultra Efficient
Blended wing aircraft are far more fuel efficient than the tube-and-wing designs the major airlines use. So why have we sided with inefficiency?

Sketchbook Entry 11: Take a screen shot of a website that you designed. Place it in your sketchbook, and critique it using the concepts from today's lecture such as the Trunk Test, consistent navigation, good clean copy, clean and appropriate code, correct use of HTML tags, etc.
This is my first website that I designed last year. I have learned a lot since then, and really struggled with building this website. The website surprisingly passes the trunk test. It is pretty clear on every page that this is my personal website with the navigation bar at the top of every page.On every page you are able to navigate back to the homepage via the navigation bar.
The copy I used is inconsistent and is often times distracting. The color palette I chose to use is very distracting and uses too many bright colors. If I was going to use such bright colors I should have used only 2-3 colors. Seemingly, in the future I would choose a much more neutral color palette.
The coding on my website is very poor. If you take a look at the source code it is very unorganized and I sometimes leave tags open. HTML tags and links are organized and used correctly. I would say the number 1 downfall of this website is the misuse and organization that is presented in the code. Also, the JPG's that were placed in Divs are not cropped correctly and make the site look very unprofessional. An example of this can be seen on my homepage with the picture of myself. Overall, this website needs a complete overhaul.

Interesting article on the design inspiration behind the movie Lincoln's website. I enjoyed the transitions in between pages and the clean and easy navigation. This site passes the trunk test with flying colors. The entire website was crafted using HTML/CSS and Javascript (no flash). Enjoy!
