【008】SubsidenceBridge/Kochi
Tumblr media
The magnificent green mountains, the blue sky, the blue Shimanto River, and the sunken bridge are the main tourist attractions. The bridge does not have a parapet in order to reduce the resistance of the water, in case the bridge sinks into the water during a major flood. To prevent trees and other objects from getting caught in the parapets and slowing down the flow of water, and to avoid further flooding of the river, parapets are not built from the beginning. In other words, the sunken bridge symbolizes the lifestyle of the people living in the basin, who accept nature as it is and live in harmony with it, rather than suppressing it.

Tumblr media
Horyu-in Garden and Jinpukaku is a Japanese garden with a pond and a circular garden in Tottori City, Tottori Prefecture. The Jinpukaku is a Renaissance-style Western-style building, and the Horyu-in Garden is a pond garden. It is a beautiful garden with Hisamatsu Mountain as its borrowed scenery and natural forest. This combination of a Western-style building and a Japanese garden is a rare sight that is not often seen. There are not many facilities where you can take pictures of the Japanese garden in a framed garden from Jinpukaku, a paid facility, making it a valuable spot.

【003】Happo-one/Nagano
Tumblr media
"Happo One" was named after the ridge extending in all directions from Mount Karamatsu in the Hakuba mountain range. Happoike, a spectacular spot at an altitude of 2,060 meters. The beautiful Happoike, which reflects the three Hakuba Mountains like a mirror, can be reached in an hour and a half by trekking via gondola and lift. In winter, the gondola and lift are a bit expensive, but it is a great way to walk around the Hakuba mountains. Happoike is a natural pond, and you will be impressed by the mysterious beauty created by nature, which is different from the artificial pond created by a dam.

The Kintai Bridge is a five-span bridge spanning the Nishiki River in Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. It is one of the three most famous bridges in Japan, and is designated as a national scenic beauty (in the area including the upstream and downstream areas) because of its rich natural backdrop. 1673, the bridge was built with a combination of wisdom and technology based on the wish to create a bridge that would not be washed away. The structure of the bridge, which spans about 200 meters of the river, is both elaborate and ingenious. It also boasts a beautiful appearance. More than 350 years have passed since its construction, and the technology and beauty of the Kintai Bridge continues to be preserved. No matter where you look in the world, there is no other wooden arch bridge with the same structure as the Kintai Bridge.
