So uh...have y'all seen this? The official translation up on Disney+ is: "Freezing ice created from synergy. Quells the impatience of his burning blade."
I've seen one other translation but that didn't seem quite right to me. Though I have to say the first half of this poem in Japanese is a riddle to me, so if anyone has insight, I'd be happy to learn more! (Here's the Japanese if anyone is interested: 合わす背中凍てつきが焼ける刃の焦燥を断つ)
Most important of all - she's talking about Hitsugaya, yes? Yes? At least if this translation is true. What is this? What lucky star was this poem burn from? Can we please start to obsess over it? Yes? We know in the coming fight Hitsugaya will be relying on Rangiku and it will be cute and all that, so that's the reason for this? Please, if you have any thoughts, do share!

And here we’ve got the another echo of Gin, as the boy goes out alone to enter Soul Society in search of something. And the crucial difference, which I love, is the active role Matsumoto has taken in this. With Gin, she was left behind, but here she’s the one encouraging Toshiro to leave, and crucially, she’s waiting for him at Soul Society. When he breezes through the entrance exams, it’s Matsumoto’s squad that finds a place for him, something that I don’t doubt happened because of their history together.
And like I’ve said before on this blog, the Toshiro we meet in Soul Society is many things– prickly, rules-bound, quick to anger– but also a pretty fundamentally decent person who values others, and knows that others value him. He’s finding that “place to belong”, which is something I don’t think Gin ever got.

imma say it again, i truly do believe kubo made rangiku’s assault similar to sexual assault in order to highlight how toxic male pride can overshadow a woman’s pain. throughout gin’s entire crusade, never once did he think to take into consideration rangiku’s feelings on the whole kill-aizen plan when SHE was the one who got beat up by a sleaze and got a piece of her soul stolen, when SHE was the victim while gin was a witness, and yet gin let what little common sense he had go to waste and chose to follow his pride instead of stepping back. gin may not have had many options once he joined squad five, but he had an option to take rangiku WITH him when he joined the shinigami academy instead of leaving her behind. he had the choice to let HER choose how she wanted to deal with her grief instead of deciding for her that her tears would only go away if he killed aizen and changed the soul society. in the end, he accomplished nothing, and made the only girl who ever mattered to him cry over his dead body. all because he chose his pride over the woman who loved him more than anything else. all because his toxic male pride told him it was better dying alone and unloved rather than accepting tragedy and being a supportive man. gin’s sin wasn’t that he hated aizen and wanted vengeance (97% of the cast wanted that). gin’s sin was that he let his pride and his ego drive his decisions in the end, and that same pride and ego are what made him fail in the end and die a miserable sack of shit.
