Mother of all madres for this desert land region of El Paso, Cd. Juarez, Mx., the Guadalupe serves as the metaphor of those working hard for everyone. In La Frontera region, she is everywhere and reflects all that forgives and intercedes; watches everyone while everyone reflects back their own vision of her eyes, her mantle, her rays of light. In these treacherous times we need someone to talk to, meditate on, photograph, and create art for that is based on her image. With you now, and everywhere at the same time she even has her own mission in Wisconsin and a song by The Killers. fuckyeah!

Housing Opportunity Management Enterprises' (HOME) held a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday for the Nuestra Señora community.
The new housing development located at 415 Montana Ave. will house 80 families.
"Nuestra Señora is a community based on hope and people that find themselves needing affordable housing are looking for that hope, they are looking for that place to call home where they have that security and that's what it means," Gerald Cichon, CEO of HOME.

Yolanda López, an artist acclaimed for her reimagined paintings of the Virgen de Guadalupe as well as her early work in political posters, died of cancer this morning at her home on San Jose Avenue. She was 79 years old.
Her son, the artist Rio Yáñez, said his mother died peacefully. López had been in hospice care at her home for more than a month, tended to by fellow artists, friends and her son. Often, she was animated and propped up with pillows, and would recount stories from her past.
