glimpse into my beautiful imaginary world where arthropods are really big and we domesticated them
edit: people are starting to say some "my worst nightmare" or "eeeww no that one is yucky and scary" comments on this like they do on any bug post and id like to say. it's fine if you don't like bugs it's fine if you're scared of bugs but don't put that on MY post clearly talking about how much i like them and how cute i think they are. you can make your own damn post about how much you hate wasps or spiders or whatever. i'm blocking people who make these kinds of comments.

Now, I may be reading into this too much, but I never noticed how much emotion Joey put into Ted's voice when he says Charlotte's name before Join Us and Die until last night (I was rewatching TGWDLM lol)
Like-
He sounds so bewildered and a little scared. He's confused and doesn't quite believe (or fully understand at the very least) what he's seeing. He just knows that Charlotte - someone he cares about - is standing there with her guts hanging out of her stomach standing next to Sam, who's very blatantly already infected. And then she starts to sing.
We KNOW that Ted cares a lot about Charlotte. Hell, he cares very deeply about ALL of his coworkers (whether or not he'll admit it). Now imagine seeing one of your closest friends like that. Imagine knowing deep down that someone you love (platonically or romantically depending on how you view Ted and Charlotte's relationship) is gone, infected and a part of this alien hivemind that's been hunting you down all day. Imagine what Ted must be feeling as he looks at Charlotte- no, the alien wearing her face. Imagine what must be going through his brain, not just in that moment, but throughout the song.
And that's not even getting into everyone else's reaction. I could go on a similar ramble entirely based on the way Paul's eyes go wide and his mouth falls slack as soon as he sees Sam and Charlotte, and the way it takes him a moment to process before he starts moving compared to how Emma - who doesn't have as much of an emotional attachment to Charlotte - immediately gets up and starts backing away. Or heck, even Bill's moments hesitation!
Man, I love Hatchetfield lol

So my husband pointed out that it’s kinda odd that the first time Toothless tries to court the Light Fury, he does a dorky human dance
And I thought, hm, he’s right, it’s odd that that’s the first thing he’d try as a courtship attempt…
…And then it hit me.
Toothless has never met another fury, he has never seen other furies interacting, mating, courting, playing. Sure, there are things that would come to him as second nature, but the trailer makes it clear that courting isn’t one of them.
Toothless has been completely surrounded by humans for years now, he’s constantly beside Hiccup and even before befriending him he’s shown to mimic humans (when he draws in sand with a branch after watching Hiccup do the same). Toothless constantly observes and learns from humans…
So when did he see a “human mating dance” for the first time?
Just look at Stoick’s feet and hands, look at the way Toothless stares intently at them from the lower left corner. When courting the light fury, Toothless doesn’t have other hands to hold, so he tries to keep them in position somehow. He doesn’t have the dexterity to mimic the feet properly, but it’s obvious he’s doing his best with what his anatomy allows him.
Toothless sees this gorgeous fury, the first he’d ever seen, and he wants so much to court her, but he doesn’t know how to do it the fury way, so he tries it the way he thinks will work (before resorting to mimicking other animals). And the fact that the first thing he tries is a human dance that he only saw once means two things: that his lack of knowledge in fury courtship won’t stop him from trying to get this girl he fell in love with at first sight… and that the first thing he thought of when watching Stoick and Valka dance together was “this is what love looks like”.

I'm 100% sure I am not the first person to have this idea but I really wish there was an edit of TGWDLM that had all the songs a capella (Show Stoppin' Number aside, which Hidgens plays) until Let It Out when Paul hears the music for the first time.
Would make it way more creepy.
