The Loyal Knight - Chapter 12: The Missing Mage

Just updated my hollow knight fic about the five great knights. You can read it here. Here's a little spoiler free sneak peek from the new chapter:

“Welcome to the colosseum!” A shrill voice called out from above. Ogrim nearly jumped out of his skin, looking around wildly before spotting the small bug hanging upside down from the ceiling by a chain wrapped around his body. Loud drums and cheering pounded through the walls and shook the building, causing the chain to sway faintly back and forth.

“...What are you doing up there?” He asked, still a little nervous but mostly confused.

“Oh, just hanging!” He replied cheerily. “Anyway, don’t worry about me, you’re here to prove yourself in our mighty colosseum, are you not?”

“Oh, um, no. I’m looking for someone, actually. A mage from the city was sent here a few days ago to-” Ogrim had to cut himself off before he said too much, almost forgetting the dangers of speaking openly about the infection. “...have you seen him?”

The bug shot him a quizzical expression, which looked rather funny upside down. “Many bugs come through here, I don’t keep track of them all. If he’s here he’s probably down there in the pit,” He gestured toward a set of stairs leading down into a dark cavern, “but most bugs don’t last a few days in the colosseum.”

Ogrim grimaced, a little unsettled by the bug’s nonchalance with death. “Thank you,” He said awkwardly. “Um, are you sure you’re alright up there?”

“Oh, don’t worry about me. I’m a mighty warrior just like the rest I assure you, and I’ll be back in the ring in no time!” Genuine pride and determination filled his voice, only further unsettling Ogrim, who turned and made his way to the pit.

Remember earlier this year when Boeing very clearly had a whistleblower executed? And law enforcement didn't even look for anyone or release any info about it or anything?

People keep comparing Luigi Mangione's case to the subway murderer who got off because of systemic eugenics, but I think there's something more apt about the fact that a CEO had someone executed in recent memory, with zero attempts to find a culprit, while they spared no expense at all to find (and probably frame, it's beginning to look like) someone who shot a CEO. It's always fine to slaughter if you're rich, but if you kill the rich, they will hunt you down.
