In the wake of all the shit with JKR and the awful bathroom debate coming back up again, let me just say, as one trans man to others:

We need to stop with that shit where we post pictures of buff, post-transition trans men and say ‘Well terfs wouldn’t feel comfortable having him in the women’s bathroom, would they?’ as some kind of ‘gotcha!’

Because the argument that these hyper-masculine looking people shouldn’t be in the women’s bathroom is exactly the kind of shit that contributes to GNC and non-passing trans women being in danger. You may be well-meaning in doing so, but all you’re doing is perpetuating the idea that there should be a ‘you must be *this* feminine to use the toilet’ bar for trans women to reach. 

I know a lot of trans women have said this. We need to listen to them. We need to do better by our sisters.

liberal family members when a woman cuts her hair very short: I respect your decision but I can't lie, I think you look better with your hair longer. Is this just an experiment, do you think you'll grow your hair out after this? Again, I respect your decision, but I do think longer hair looks better than you. I think it is very important that, while I know I have no say in what you do with your hair, I need you to know that I think you look better with your hair long. y’all saying BLM for one situation just don’t sit right with me, it goes beyond police brutality!!! it’s Black women dying at a higher rate during childbirth. it’s Black people being exposed to COVID-19 at a higher rate. it’s Black people being forced into low income communities. it's Black people being denied job opportunities due to the name on their applications. it's Black people being denied into higher institutions despite having the same qualifications as their non-Black counterparts. it's Black people having their creations and ideas stolen without being given credit simply because a good percentage of society still believes in 2020 that Black people are not creative enough or smart enough or skilled enough. it's the decrease of federal funding for schools in predominantly Black neighborhoods due to gerrymandering. it's the kidnapping and murders of Black people that don't make it on the news. it's Black trans women having a life expectancy of 23 YEARS OLD. it's Black people, especially Black trans people, being incarcerated at disproportionately high rates. this isn't just about police brutality. this is deeper than that.

All Black Lives Matter. Not just the ones you specifically are a fan of.

people. never lose your magic. stop worrying about what people will think of you.

if you want to sit in the middle of a clover patch to search for a four leaf clover on the side of a road, do it. don't worry about what the people in cars will think of you.

if you want to climb a tree, do it. its not childish.

if you want to wade into mud to get a cool stick you saw, do it. who cares what dog walkers think.

if you want to stand outside in the pouring rain and feel the fresh drops on your face, do it. the people in houses won't care.

if you want to crouch down in grass and look at all the bugs hiding in the dirt, do it.

if you want to go do a ritual in the woods, do it.

stop worrying about what passers-by will think. stop worrying about being seen. our fears of what others will think is constricting us and stopping us from experiencing things like we did when we were children. don't lose your curiosity and magic.
