to admin: when/how did noelle's powers manifest for the first time?

Noelle 's powers started manifesting when she was a baby, but it was still pretty passive. She could freeze anyone who touched her, or turn her immediate surroundings cold, but it wasn't until she was a teenager that she was able to use her powers more like IceMaiden  could. 

The first case of her power really emerging was when she was kidnapped as a baby by Mr. Twister. She became so scared she froze his armor and shattered it, nearly killing him in the process.

Everything was filled with joy but it was robbed the day Nora was diagnosed with Huntington's disease and that loathsome Ferris Boyle killed the warm hearted man she used to know.|

He met her sad gaze with his own.

If it makes you feel better neither this story nor Future State are the canon futures of the DC Universe.

(Though really canon went waaaay out the door decades ago in terms of comics lol. Arguably only Invincible and The Boys have an expansive/potentially expansive universe that stays relatively linear.)

Batman/Catwoman has a story set in the future but that story is entirely unrelated to Future State. They take place in alternate timelines/universes.

Got it. I was reading an article online and for some reason it was referenced as connected in some way to Future State. But if this is considered “canon” future to the main DC universe......once again it’s beyond depressing. 

It’s like it’s a sin to let Freeze be happy. To let him change for the better. The moment he succeeds in anything he has to cross the river and pay his dues himself. I swear I wouldn’t be surprised if they change him so that he sold his soul to a demon in exchange to for saving Nora and that a Hellhound came to kill him.

Wasn’t it fast-forwarding though? Like it’s connected in some way to Future State (and I prefer this over Nora getting found dead in a river bank somewhere. At least here she can do more. Maybe take up her husband’s legacy for good? Maybe heal Victor and let the two of them live in peace?)

I swear to God my old threads of Victor dying and wanting to freeze himself solid after curing Nora were something I came up with on the spot.

NOW LOOK AT THIS FROM FUTURE STATE.

Freeze went and did it.....he canonically cryogenically froze himself. And not in a ' woe is me' kind of way either.

His wife gets to be happy as he wanted her to be, and rather than just die....he entombed himself.

God I hate being right all the time.

Batman Bad Guys this week 033121

“ There’s a word for people who get Clayface angry and harass him without understanding his potential danger.....stupid. You’re lucky he let you live......and yes, you are alive because he wasn’t in the mood to kill someone. 

I’ve seen enough bodies to know what happens to those who cross his path the wrong way.”

There were a few deeper cuts that needed stitching, but nothing broken. Mainly systemic dangers rather than structural. As he opened up his kit to get his needle ready, he shrugged. 

“ I can survive short times without my suit, and I wear a device that injects liquid nitrogen into my blood in order to prevent me from overheating in the time before I get back to my suit. 

I’m not as heartless as you may think, Nightwing. I used to be a doctor once.......” 

His jaw tensed slightly as he spoke, and he became silent. It was obvious that talking about his past was something he was never going to elaborate further on.....the past was pain. It was dead. Only the now existed. 

“.......You have deep cuts on your arm that need stitches, but structurally you’re fine. You will be extremely sore come tomorrow so I suggest going back to your nest to roost for a few days.”

“…….One of my clinics. I found you bloodied, incoherent. I think it was a case of biting off more than you can chew.”

The cold scientist carefully sterilized what wounds he saw on Nightwing…despite whatever history he had with the batfamily, he was at his heart a doctor. Even if he claimed that he no longer followed his oath….

He still felt the guilt of hurting others. The drive to help people. It just wasn’t something he showed often.

“ The clinics are scattered all over Gotham. I set them up for those the hospitals refuse to help. I haven’t told Batman about them…….or the police.”

There was finality in his cold voice. He didn’t trust anybody anymore. The last time he trusted anybody with even a sliver of information….his laboratory was destroyed, his work compromised and stolen by the GCPD.

The familiar voice of the iced rouge made him sit up quickly. Or more accurately, attempt to. Pain shot all over him and he barely lifted his head before letting his body relax back to where it laid. Looking up at Fries he did relax a little.

Freeze was one of the people in Gotham that made it really difficult to have a black and white view of the ones on the other side of this fight. Not of all them, but Mr. Freeze was a definite member of that group. Nightwing took a deep breath and tried to remember what the fight had been…

“I didn’t think Clayface was going to be this level of a challenge…” he said as it slowly filtered back. As he heard Freeze talk of the clinics…he could be anywhere in Gotham. “I can appreciate the need for secrecy.” He said, wondering how much could be said about him and who he was. He could still feel his mask on his face. Hopefully this meant the damage there was mostly bruising and not something that needed to be tended as the rest of the wounds on his body. “…should I be worried it doesn’t feel as cold as I would have thought a clinic run by you should feel?”
