Super long thank you post with lots of photos and videos. Enjoy!
So once again, GISH has ended. Thank you all for putting up with the crazy this week. We had a lot of success, a few failures, and a great time.
As you may know, GISH is an international treasure hunt. John and I are part of a team of 15 from the US and the Netherlands. As a team we must do as many of the about 208 items that we can over the course of the week. Some are silly, some are kind, all appear at first look, impossible. While we do this, we raise money and awareness for one big cause, and reach out to members of our own community in act of kindness that are meant to make the world a little softer and bring a smile to the faces of strangers.
I want to post a few videos and images from the week along with some thank you notes to those that helped or offered to help.
Vic Micklasavage for finding us a free toilet Shelle Lager McGovern for helping with arranging a community clean up Colleen Garrity Fossett and the Mullica Hll Tri Club for helping to find a location to exorcise (not a typo) Riverwind's Community center for letting us photograph a nun leading a cycling class, and a free day pass for both John and myself! Denise Be for trying working so hard to get us a place to yoga despite her crazy week. Linda Moore of Moore Bodyshaping for inviting us into her studio at Kennedy fitness center in Sewell and bringing in extras for photos, and for the free month pass of classes.(I personally think this is a trick to make me go to her strength class, but I love her so I will be tricked.) Menlo Park Veteran's Hospital in Edison for permitting us to host a party for the residents DeHart's Farmer's Market in West Deptford for helping us with melon hats. Niobe’s friends, who this year offered to help on their own, for picking up a car with their bare hands (really!) and helping with art design and staging photos.
Additionally, our team raised $270 for the Change A Life fund that this year will go to support about 100 women in Rwanda to build a farmer’s market and farm. The total raised by GISH participants this year was $263,408 to with a goal of $150,000. Nearly $100,000 over the goal.
One of the things that GISH reminds us of ever year is that people are always willing to help, all you need to do is ask.

Item 43: Modern stormtroopers are so much more enlightened these days. They’re in touch with their “new age” side and have their chakras aligned. In fact, you just spotted one teaching a yoga class or leading some other new-age class.

Item 48: Connect with at least 6 people from opposing teams in your area to create a human rainbow in a public space. Each team’s representative(s) must be entirely clad in a different color, (one team should be red, one orange, yellow, green, blue, purple). All participating teams get the points. Somewhere in the picture, include a sign with a message of love, unity, and support for the LGBTQIA members of our community. Accompanying text must list usernames of all participants. Post your rainbow moment on social media using: #GISHumanity

Item 132: We throw a lot of parties to celebrate anniversaries or birthdays, but we just don’t throw enough random gratitude surprise parties. This year, we’re changing that. Collaborate with other teams to meet up and throw a surprise “gratitude party” for someone in your community who deserves it: soldiers at your local VA hospital, first responders, hospital staff, or even just a particularly giving member of your community.

Item 19: (Up to 60 seconds). CALLING ALL GISHERS: There's one Thing you have always wanted to do, but you're scared. Maybe it's skydiving, riding a motorcycle, holding a tarantula, singing in public, or cliff diving... You get the idea. By the end of GISH week at least 3 gishers on your team will spit in the eye of fear, vanquish it and do their Thing. Submit a video compilation of each member of your team first explaining what they are scared to try (before they do it) and then, after they Do the Thing, telling us how it went.
