Experimenting with TensorFlow. Video shows a neural network that takes UV-coordinates and learns to output a reference 3D-geometry. The output of the network is displayed after a certain amount of learning cycles (itr = iterations). The net contains 2 input, 1 outputs and 3 hidden layers (50-30-10 neurons). Activiation function is sigmoid.

Experimenting with tensorflow. Video shows a neural network that takes uv-coordinates (magenta) and learns to output a distorted 2D-grid (grey circles). Frames are captured every 600 learning iterations. The net contains 2 input, 2 outputs and 3 hidden layers (5-4-3 neurons). Activiation function is sigmoid.

The “Angewandte Architecture Challenge” is an architecture summer school program in collaboration with international experts and institutions. It is intended for architecture students interested in exploring integrated digital design and fabrication while simultaneously designing a full-scale built project within the teaching environment of the Institute of Architecture at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna - “Die Angewandte”.

First complete print of the extruded fractal (koch curve). Height is approximately 25 cm, which is also the maximum height one could go with the Kossel Deltaprinter. The geometry is generated as a solid body and then sliced in the spiral vase mode with Slic3r. This results in an only 0.2 mm thin wall of PLA, so the geometry is translucent and makes an excellent lamp shade.

Doing some experiments in printing bending structures. Originally this was done with wood to make it more flexible just by lasercutting.
