Episode 1x10 - Revelations 2:10

🎬 The filming location: We take you to the Real Fábrica de Tabacos at the University of Seville. Some small scenes of episode 1x09 - Corinthians 10:4 took place indoors but the biggest takes place outdoors, in the final episode, in the first two courtyards of the main entrance of the building.

🎞️ Warrior Nun is one of our favorites of 2020, so when we saw that the most epic scene of season 1 took place in Seville we jumped at the chance 😁

🎬 Le lieu de tournage : On vous emmène à la Real Fábrica de Tabacos à l'Université de Séville. Quelques petites scènes de l'épisode 1x09 - Corinthiens 10:4 se sont déroulées à l'intérieur mais le plus gros se passe en extérieur, dans l'episode final, dans les deux premières cours de l'entrée principale du bâtiment.

 It’s been four months since Ava’s been back, yet she’s still not used to waking up in pain.

 It’s disheartening, to open her eyes every morning and feel the first ache of the day. Like each night might magically make everything go away.

 She can still remember waking up in the morning, twelve years old and forgetting she was paralyzed. She never was in her dreams. She could run, jump, swim, sometimes even fly. She’d dream of playing with kids who had no faces. Riding on bikes and climbing on jungle gyms - laughing and being a child.

 She would wake up each day and for thirty seconds or so, she was still that little girl in her dreams. Happy, healthy and able to do whatever she wanted.

 Then the room would suddenly become familiar and she couldn’t reach up to wipe the sleep from her eyes.

 So many mornings were spent crying. Trying to stay as quiet as she could. So she didn’t wake her roommate, so she didn’t get any of the nun’s attention. They would never offer her pity - no. She was lucky, according to them. Fortunate to have their time at all - to have anyone putting in any effort to keep her alive.

 She would cry, then turn her head to brush her cheeks on the pillows and dry her tears.

 If any of them ever noticed how red her eyes were on those mornings, they never said anything.

 Now, she’s here and she isn’t paralyzed, but her body is still not right. It’s different and somehow entirely the same.

 That same thirty seconds exists where she’s okay, before reality sets in and another hard day lies ahead of her.

 At least here she can move, and it isn’t Sister Frances waiting for her each morning.

 Instead, it’s Bea, who is already out of bed and shuffling through their apartment.

Avatrice’s “Switzerland era” in the first two episodes of season 2 is unlike anything I’ve ever seen in a show before. It’s literally an AU (complete with countless romantic tropes) dropped right in the middle of the actual show. It’s incredible, and I hope this fandom never ever stops obsessing over it

HI IM BACK WITH MORE LATE NIGHT ANGST AND IT HAS TO DO WITH THE PARALLELS OF S2E2 and S2E7.

The Apartment Fight™ scene between Beatrice and Ava after the almost possession and jazz gives us the lines "Just your job?" "And my pleasure" which blurs the lines of Beatrice's duty to Ava, telling her essentially "yeah I was sworn to protect you but now I care about you on a much more personal level than just my job" which soothes Ava and lets her know that what Beatrice does isn't just because she feels like she has to, but because she wants to. (Also because it soothes Ava in a way that she knows that Beatrice doesn't view her as a burden or useless since prior to becoming the Warrior Nun that was all she was called by the nuns at St. Michael's)

With the balcony scene in E7, Beatrice redraws the line of professionalism, albeit reluctantly, she knows she's gotten too personal, more so than she thinks she should've gotten. Thats why she's so quick to talk about things like forgetting the mission and focusing on her own personal feelings. By saying things like "she never did" when Ava's bringing up the Beatrice she knows to try and distance herself from the closeness and familiarity they gained in Switzerland, that's her trying to redraw the line. A stark contrast from comforting Ava just a week ago when they were in Switzerland.

We go from Avatrice showing vulnerability on both sides and finding comfort in each other to one trying to back away in fear of feeling a heartbreak she can't ever imagine attempting to recover from. From "my job and my pleasure" to "I let my emotions blind me to the mission" is the verbal assent of Beatrice's walls that Ava had torn down being built right back up, mainly due to distress and denial of the reality of her current situation.
