what they truly are
aries is the color palette of the setting sun. they are spark that ignites a simple bonfire, or an entire wildfire. they are the feeling you get when you overcome your fears.
taurus is the flower buds in a garden. they may be the vines crawling up the side of a brick wall, or the umbrella one might carry on a rainy day. they are the feeling of warmth and security.
gemini is the spirit of adventure. they are a thousand sunflowers in a vast field, and the intricate roads on a paper map. they are the compass, and can show you the way if you are willing.
cancer is the softness of a bed of moss. they are the smells of vanilla candles and roses. they are the bonds that happy friends and families share with one another.
leo is the crack of dawn. they are the essence of happiness - the pure feeling of being joyful. they are the golden throne a deserving king or queen rests upon.
virgo is a wise, old owl. they are a leather bound book that is full of knowledge. they are curiousity itself, and have an affinity for learning. they are the end of a trail where beautiful mountains can be seen.
libra is the warm wind that carries a dandelion seed across the valley. they are the sound waves of spoken words, song, or music. they are lovers and fighters.
scorpio is the single red rose amidst a field of white roses. they are the approaching storm clouds in the west, and the cool breeze that signals their arrival. they are a mystery, which takes time.
sagittarius is the mountain trail that leads to the brilliant waterfall. they are explorers - maybe even cartographers. they will be your friend if you give them a chance.
capricorn is the stars that glitter in the heavens above. they are the deer that cross the river in the forest. they live in the moment, but are also aware of the future. they are cautious and wise.
aquarius is the mysterious fog that snakes around the bases of trees. they are also the crisp air that follows the disappearance of the mist. they are the lilacs that grow on the bush next door. they are the feeling of sentiment.
pisces is the shimmer on the crests of ocean waves. they are the dreams of believers and doubters alike. if you let them in, they will change your world.

the other side of the signs
aries:can be very soft, emotional. sometimes doubt themselves. feel unwanted, unloved. they are without a doubt strong people but sometimes they just need someone to make them feel alright again. cry over people who hurt them in the past sometimes. never really forget what others did to them.
taurus:overprotective and jealous because they doubt themselves as a partner. sometimes they feel not good enough. can get angry over little things. when in rage they may say things they don’t really mean and regret later. focused on their goals so much that they are about to give them up after a little failure.
gemini:can be mean and bitter when hurt. wouldn’t admit they’re hurt. ignore people because they don’t know how to express themselves sometimes. overthink things and panic. it takes them a lot of time to regain their strength. they look for a home in other people. they often feel misunderstood.
cancer:they can be hard as a rock. they give second chances but they know exactly that giving a third chance is foolish. they won’t hurt those who hurt them but they will make sure the people who did them wrong know what they did. is normally a dreamy romantic but they have an iron skin to hide in when it all gets too much.
leo:sometimes they feel powerless, as if something was sucking their energy out of them. challenges that seem impossible can bring them to their knees. sometimes their “roar” is a soft, whispering voice. their pride can make them roar incredibly loud though. if they feel like you make fun of them you’ll get to see their teeth and this is not how you want to experience them.
virgo:sometimes they are mean on purpose, hurt on purpose. they may try to control others emotionally. they do this to be let alone or to make someone stay. sometimes they feel lonely and down. they also create little worlds where they hide then. they can have problems with saying or even knowing what they want and it confuses them and makes them feel uncomfortable.
libra:they doubt themselves a lot. they sometimes feel like the failed first try of a painting. sometimes they are not as kind as nomally, sometimes they explode. they never forget what they deserve and they will do anything to get what they want. they use their elbows to get people out of their way if it’s needed.
scorpio:they sometimes feel things they don’t understand and it makes them feel depressed. sometimes they feel like no one on this planet is made to understand them. sometimes they regret things so much that they hate themselves for making those mistakes. it takes them a ot of strength to seem as strong as they are.
saggittarius:the longer they look for them, the more “flaws” they’ll find in themselves. they are bright people who live in so many colours but sometimes all they see is black and white, maybe grey. sometimes deep thoughts keep them awake and although they usually have many friends they don’t know who to talk to. then they feel like the whole word has given up on them. they are known as funny, charming people but sometimes they feel like they’re carrying the weight of everyone’s happiness, like they’re responsible for it, and that can be too much for them from time to time.
capricorn:they can be furious. sometimes, when it all gets too much, they yell and kick things and start treating the people around them badly just for standing where they stand, just for being there. they like to know more than they should. they rarely speak about how they feel. they tend to hide their true feelings from everyone around them and when they finally talk about things that bother them no one knows how to comfort them. they don’t say what they want but expect others to feel what they want and when no one understands them they get angry.
aquarius:there can be a lot of secrets behind the pretty face of an aquarius. the best kept can be their sadness. although they are bright personalities who love to laugh and make jokes, aquarius often have experienced things that still bother them even after a long time. they won’t always speak about it, they may try to cover it, but some day they will tell everyone what bothers them. it’s actually hard for them to let go of their past.
pisces:they can be the most revengeful people. sometimes they know nothing, neither friends nor family. if they want to make someone pay for something they will do so, they will get their revenge. although they love a lot and love intensely, they also know hate. they try to avoid this feeling but they know it too well. actually pisces are haunted by a lot of things, mostly their own mistakes. they sometimes can’t find peace. they fight for justice but sometimes they go too far. too far with many things. they tend to be self-destructive.

a decade of l’s and a’s
1. L for Caerleon.
He used to hate his name. Caerleon stood for legion. But Caerleon also stood for a battle site. It was too apt; these warring ideologies threatened to tear him into indistinguishable pieces.
2. L for Ill-fitting.
He wasn’t a girl. But he liked dresses, and fashion, and looking pretty. He liked sewing clothes and braiding hair.
But he wasn’t a boy, either. But he liked bowties and suits. He liked pursuing rationality.
He was neither of those, but he liked hobbies and objects traditionally considered feminine. But he wasn’t a girl. But he wasn’t a boy.
3. L for Alien.
He didn’t know what he was.
He was just... L.
4. L for Luck.
He ran away from home, and dropped out of Hogwarts.
Finally, he had found someone who understood the struggle of not fitting in, of not completely being one thing yet not completely being the other. A Japanese-American girl by the name of Evelyn Takamura had introduced him to a multitude of emotions he had never felt before for another person: worry, compassion, affection...
Trust.
5. L for Loss.
(His aunt had found his sister’s old dresses in his closet.)
His Aunt Gabriel, who he rarely saw, and who he always thought understood him, had found the little shack he and Eves had been living in since dropping out of Hogwarts.
If there was one thing Aunt Gabriel disagreed with Grandfather about, it was blood purity. If there was one thing Aunt Gabriel agreed with Grandfather about, it was everything else.
(His aunt had found his dresses.)
He asked her how she’d found him; she answered by asking him how he was doing.
He asked her why Grandfather even cared; it’s not like he ever wanted L to be Heir. But see, that was the thing, Aunt Gabriel said: there was no Heir.
(Grandfather had found him.)
Of Grandfather’s children, only Gabriel was left, but she didn’t want to be Head. His cousins were dead, and so was Caminus. Aunt Gabriel one child but he was a Halfblood.
That’s why Grandfather needed him back; he was the only Azuriah left under his bloodline, and he didn’t want to give the title of Head to his brother’s family.
So L had to come back. And L had to be perfect.
(And Grandfather intended to bring his grandson back.)
But L wasn’t perfect; and he told her as much.
Her next words weren’t a threat, they were a promise:
Grandfather would beat the uncertainty out of him.
6. A for Alone.
Grandfather had officially dropped him out of Hogwarts, stating that he would be homeschooled again from then on.
He was alone again. Had he not known what it felt like to be understood, to be accepted - he would have been fine with his current situation.
Well, not fine; but better. He would have handled it better.
But he had. So he didn’t. He wouldn’t. He was going to be alone again, and in the worst way possible.
7. A for Absolute.
x
8. A for Attempt.
Grandfather had caught him.
He’d been sneaking out of the manor a few times a month, at random so as not to get caught. And yet here he was, lying face-down in front of his Grandfather’s shoes. Dress torn and muddied with his blood, one heel broken and one heel lost, wig askew and hairpins pulling at his scalp. He might have lost a few teeth on the way, broken a few ribs, bruised his knees and torso...
But none of that compared to the torture his Grandfather put him through afterwards.
9. A for ?
x
10. A for Azuriah.
Gone was the boy who tugged or fiddled with his bowtie whenever he was nervous.
Gone was the boy who was anxious all the time.
Or was he?
Maybe he was just suppressed underneath the cool, impersonal exterior forced upon him.

Irish guy here. In response to someone’s post I’d written a short list of traits to help with writing Irish-sounding English dialogue. I thought I’d post it here as a reference. It might also help people who want to write fantasy dialogue that sounds suitably ‘old world’ compared to modern American vernacular.
Edit: this post describes Republic of Ireland English rather than Northern Ireland English, which is its own unique thing with less Gaelic influence that would require a whole other post i'm not qualified to write.
Irish people tend not to respond to questions with 'yes' or 'no'. This is because there are no words that translate directly as yes or no in the Irish language. 'Tá' and 'Níl' mean 'it/there is' and 'it/there isn't.'
So even though English is Irish people's primary language, we tend to answer questions like this:
Are you hungry? 'I am'
Is it broken? 'it isn't.'
Will she be arriving? 'She will.'
In irish we don't have a verb 'to have.' You don't describe yourself as owning anything. Things are simply present alongside you. Instead possession is described like 'there is a' + 'noun' + 'word that translates as 'with me' or 'on me' or 'in me'.' Example construction: There is a bellyache in me, rather than I have a bellyache.
In english this phrasing get combined with the verb 'have'.
I have a bus ticket, becomes 'I have a bus ticket with me'
He's drunk, becomes 'he has drink in him.'
She has bright eyes, becomes 'she has bright eyes on her.'
When something happens to your possessions, there’s still two identifiers of possession in the form of ‘my’ and ‘on me’
‘My car broke on me.’
‘Her dinner’s gone cold on her.’
'His kid's been acting up on him.'
Actually, just think of how doctors in films say ‘don’t die on me’, but apply it to everything.
When you do 'action x' to 'thing y' in irish, you're not carrying out 'action x'. Instead you're bringing 'thing y' to a state where 'action x' has been done to it. For example:
I've eaten a cake, becomes 'I've a cake eaten.'
You didn't eat that cake, instead you brought the cake to a state where it has been eaten. This applies to lots of things. 'I've my hands washed, a book read, a delivery ordered.' it even applies to things you do to yourself:
I broke my arm, becomes 'I have my arm broken.'
When talking about the past, had or has gets replaced by 'after'.
She has fixed the problem, becomes 'She's after fixing the problem.'
I had my meeting, becomes 'I'm after my meeting.'
Any gets replaced by at all. Sometimes duplicated to form 'at all at all'
Do you have any apples? becomes 'do you have apples at all at all?'
Ye is used as a plural you
Are you all not finished? becomes 'are ye all not finished?'
Were you alone or in company? becomes 'was it all of ye or just yourself?'
Himself/herself often takes the place of him/her, or even he/she in some cases
I asked him about that, becomes 'I asked himself about that'
Here she is, becomes 'Here's herself.'
And what about you? becomes 'And what about yourself?'
Irish people tend to drop the word 'if' in certain cases.
I don't know if it will work, becomes 'I don't know will it work.'
He asked me if I knew her, becomes 'He asked did I know her.'
Irish people tend to drop the 'to' out of many phrases.
I'm not allowed to see her, becomes 'I'm not allowed see her.'
He's gone down to the shops, becomes 'He's gone down the shops.'
In Irish 'take' is not a synonym for 'bring'. 'Take' means to snatch or remove something. There's a stronger emphasis on possession changing between people so it doesn't apply if you're just carrying your own possession somewhere new.
I took my coat with me, so would become 'I brang my coat with me.'
'brang' is commonly used as a past form of bring in place of brought.
On that point, 'dove' is used as past tense of dive instead of dived. This dove rhymes with cove, not love.
'The plumber brang his tools and dove right in.'
Irish is similar to african american vernacular in that there are two present tenses. One for things that are currently true at the moment, and another for things that are generally true but not necessarily happening right now at the time of speaking.
Where a black american person might say 'I be working', an irish person will say 'I do be working,' typically contracted to form 'I d'be working.'
So the concept of 'He is known to sometimes or often tells lies, but I am not claiming he is currently lying in this present moment' is handily conveyed in the short phrase 'He d'be telling lies.'
Irish people tend to attach words to the end of sentences, such as 'now' 'so' and 'sure.'
'There we go now'
'That's fine so'
'there she is sure'
Now conveys no extra meaning and is just used for emphasis.
'You've ruined it now.'
So is used as an article of agreement in place of 'then'.
'Oh we'll just do that so,' in place of 'Oh we'll just do that then.'
Sure is used for something that should be self evident or obvious.
'I'm holding it now sure.'
The Irish sorry:
Irish people frequently pepper conversations with the word sorry. In my experience this eccentricity seems to confuse non irish listeners more than anything else. Hearing sorry all the time, it can sound like irish people are constantly misinterpreting what you say as a criticism or admonishment. But saying sorry is just a casual way of being polite.
Our little sorries are invisible to irish people. We don't fully register they're there when we listen or speak. It’s our way of smoothing social interactions and we don’t mean them as literal apologies.
For example: You can be arguing with an irish person about how they refuse to apologize and take responsibility for something, then ask them for a pen so you can write their details to report them, and as they hand it to you they’ll say ‘oh sorry just a sec. Sorry there it is,' before they go right back to arguing that they don't owe you an apology. But the sorries aren’t sarcastic. It’s just a pleasant little norm for people to show empathy with minor things like you not already having a pen. You poor thing. Blame that verbal tick on catholic guilt maybe.
Another piece of subconscious politeness. Irish people tend to avoid explicitly referring to themselves when asking for something. Instead of me or I, ‘us’ or ‘we’ is used. I.e., ‘Give us two loaves of bread/ Can we get two loaves of bread.’
I now realize this sort of makes irish people sound like Smeagol/Gollum.
When recounting past conversations, irish people will reverse the order of ‘X said’ statements. As in:
‘Look over here, says he. Look where? says I. Here in my hand, says he.’
Note how says is present tense though the story takes place in the past. This is more common with older generations and rural people. You wouldn’t hear a young urban person talk like this unless they were being ironic.
It's also common for irish people to phrase definite statements as rhetorical questions.
That won't work, becomes 'that'll work so will it?'
She's superb at it, becomes 'Isn't she superb at it?'
I was late and he scolded me and I got the day off, becomes 'Sure wasn't I late and didn't he scold me and didn't I get the day off?'
Interestingly, unlike most languages Irish did not originally have a greeting that made reference to god or gods. This concerned the catholic church, and so they imposed the phrase 'Dia Duit', which means 'God with you.' Dia duit is now the standard greeting used in Irish. We don't know what the original hello was, since literacy arrived in ireland with christianity in 432 AD, replacing the ogham lettering system which had been primarily used to mark names on graves. Some believe the original hello was a form of 'Nach tú,' which means 'is it not yourself?' Which is kind of funny when you consider the irish tendency to phrase things as questions might once have extended to kicking off every conversation by asking one another whether or not they're themselves.
'Ah, is it not yourself?'
'It is, and is it not yourself also?'
'It is. Now that we've settled that neither one of us is not ourselves let's tell each other our names since this is out very first meeting.'

Separation Anxiety Disorder
Separation anxiety disorder is a mental health condition that involves intense and excessive anxiety and fear of being separated from a loved one or ones. The distress experienced by people who are struggling with this disorder often causes a great deal of disruption in their lives and an overall decline in daily functioning. Examples of fears that trigger this form of anxiety can include:
The possibility of being separated from a loved one
Ongoing worry that a loved one may suddenly die
Panic that a loved one will get lost
Concern that a loved one will be kidnapped
Trepidation that a loved one will get hurt
Anxiety that a loved one will become ill
Adults who are suffering from separation anxiety disorder often place their focus on the health, wellbeing, and safety of their children, significant other, or another person with whom there is a strong attachment. Cornerstone to this illness, however, is that the focus placed on another person or persons is distressing and leads to a number of adverse effects. Adults with separation anxiety disorder may constantly check on the whereabouts of loved ones, be overly protective of children (regardless of the child’s age), or refuse to be alone. Additionally, adults with this condition may report physical pain in the event separation from a loved one is imminent, develop another mental illness if symptoms of this disorder persist, and experience discord among loved ones if appropriate care is not sought. Fortunately, there are treatment options available that can alleviate symptoms, restore functioning, and help these individuals form healthy relationships with loved ones without the distressing symptoms of separation anxiety disorder.

Studies have determined that separation anxiety disorder is a disorder that typically begins during childhood, yet its symptoms can carry over into adulthood. Researchers estimate that nearly 1% to 2% of adults struggle with this form of anxiety. Experts also believe that this mental health condition affects more women than men.
Causes and Risk Factors for Separation Anxiety Disorder
Professionals in the field have yet to conclude a single identifiable cause for separation anxiety disorder. However, most in the field of mental health believe that the development of this disorder occurs when certain genetic, physiological, and environmental factors are working together. Additionally, research has concluded that there are some additional risk factors that can make a person more susceptible to developing this form of anxiety. Consider the following explanations:
Genetic: Research has found that 73% of individuals who meet diagnostic criteria for separation anxiety disorder have a family history of this mental health condition. Because of this link between family members who suffer from the same mental illness, it can be deduced that separation anxiety disorder can, in fact, be inherited. This case is especially true for individuals with a first-degree relative who have a history of this mental illness.
Physical: As with other anxiety disorders, those who are suffering from separation anxiety disorder have been found to have certain chemical imbalances in their brains. Specifically, neurotransmitters that are responsible for regulating mood and impulses are often not regulated in the brains of these individuals and can lead to the onset of anxiety symptoms. When these chemicals are not balanced, a person’s ability to respond to stress is hindered and can cause an exacerbated startle response to minor triggers or to perceived fear or danger.
Environmental: Experiencing an abrupt life stressor in which a person is separated from his or her child, significant other, or other loved one as a result can ultimately lead to the development of separation anxiety disorder. Examples of life stressors that can trigger this form of anxiety include the unexpected death of loved one, experiencing a disaster in which one is separated from loved ones, and having a personal history of forced separation from primary caregivers during childhood. Lastly, it has been found that those with a history of codependent relationships that are romantic in nature can lead to the onset of symptoms if an individual is not able to adjust when he or she is not around his or her partner.
Risk Factors:
Being female
Having a family history of separation anxiety disorder or other mental health condition
Personal history of another mental health condition
Experiencing the loss of a loved one
Experiencing an abrupt major life change in which one is separated from a loved one
Being in an unhealthy, codependent, romantic relationship

Separation Anxiety Treatment
Mental health evaluation: In order to ensure that each and every need is addressed and met, a thorough clinical evaluation is provided for each patient in order to assess the individual’s needs, concerns, and present level of functioning. Based on the results of this evaluation, the appropriate services and treatment recommendations will be determined and presented to the patient. The recommendations will be based on the identification of the presenting problem, the evaluation of one’s mental status, and the formulation of a diagnostic impression.
Medication management: As part of our goal to guarantee the improved functioning of our patients, as well as to ensure the successful, consistent management and reduction of symptoms, we provide ongoing medication management to all patients who need it. This service provides psychiatric and medical interventions that are implemented in order to reduce, stabilize, and/or eliminate the symptoms that patients are plagued by as a result of their psychiatric struggles.
Behavioral health counseling and therapy: This component of treatment focuses on directly addressing the patient’s mental illness or emotional disturbance. These sessions primarily occur one-on-one between a patient and therapist, however, family members or guardians may be included when specified as part of the patient’s individualized service plan. These counseling services consist of a series of time-limited, structured sessions that work towards the attainment of mutually defined goals.
Community psychiatric supportive treatment (CPST): The intent of CPST is to provide specific, measurable, and individualized services to each patient. In order to do so, we focus specifically on our patients’ abilities to succeed in the community by assisting individuals in identifying and accessing needed services, guiding them as they show improvement in work functioning and family relationships, and aiding them as they integrate back into the community and become contributing members of society.
