         “have you thought about it?”

         she looks up from her phone, resting languidly on the couch and doing nothing in particular, which is probably her favorite way to pass time. bella looks at the other girl as if she would know what she’s talking about, even though she knows that it could be a million things, given the fact that she’s offered no context. still, she thinks it might be on their minds.

        “moving out of the dorms, i mean. have you thought about getting a place on your own?” it’s kind of odd in a way, because all her life she wanted companionship. being an only child with parents that kept her busy meant that she was always somewhat lonely, with no people that she could call close, no one that she could turn to and even when she was around people she still felt alone. then when she moved into the dorms she finally got what she wanted — other girls to be around, someone always available to talk, late night conversations and group meals. but after four years, she was more than ready to get out.

         she thinks it’s possible that she’s just a creature of habit, and after more than a decade of being alone, maybe she’s gotten used to it, maybe it’s her default.

         bella sits up, putting her phone screen down beside her and looking at miru. “don’t get me wrong, i loved living with everyone, but it’s just nice to be alone every once in a while, you know? we’re surrounded by so many people all the time and, i don’t know.” she shrugs, opting not to finish the sentence. “i mean, you’re welcome here any time anyways, so it’s not like we’re isolating ourselves or anything.”

          everyone has their own way of doing things, of letting go after so many hours strung up, straight backed and perfect, every sparkle in place and every hair sprayed down to the exact location on their head. americans call it blowing off steam, but bella wouldn’t be caught dead actually saying that. these kinds of idioms were never her thing anyways; they were too cheesy, too antiquated.

          but it’s not to say she doesn’t have her own methods, complete with dark rooms and her usual drinks — girly and fruity, but enough so she actually feels something. the public would hate it, she already knows, but when it’s day after day of smiling until her cheeks hurt, dancing to the same songs, doing the same things, she has to compensate somehow. her little act of rebellion would be scoffed at in any other context, because even high schoolers these days get drunk, but here she is making a commonplace thing an indulgence.

          bella holds onto minju, elbow looped around the other girl. “minju!” she says her name with a sudden excitement. it’s not often they get to hang out like this, though presently bella can’t figure out why. “you’re so pretty, you know? i wonder what it’s like to live a day as pretty as you.” even if she’s had a bit to drink, everything she says is still a true sentiment, and she stands close to the other girl, an easy smile on her lips. “i guess you don’t have to imagine.”

          there’s something to be said about the way the cars hum in the city streets, how the traffic never seems to stop and the lights are as bright as if the sun was out. in a place like seoul there’s no such thing as night and day, no such distinction in the way that energy ebbs through its veins. but she’s been here for so long now that it seems natural to her, and growing up in cities her entire life means that she feels an emptiness when there’s any sort of pause.

          so admittedly, it feels weird to be in an apartment by herself, with the traffic muffled to a low hum and light only visible through cracks in curtains. it’s like being in her own world, and she feels like it’s a metaphor for something but she’s not quite sure what.

         “no schedules tomorrow?” she inquires without looking, reaching up on her tiptoes for two cups as she waits for the water to boil. not that it really matters anyways, no one in their profession is any stranger to late nights and early mornings, and full nights of sleep come few and far between for her. and even so, she wouldn’t miss an opportunity to hang out with hana like this, just the two of them, with no outside distractions. bella sets the glasses down on the table between them, pulling the hood of her oversized sweatshirt up over her head and tying the string into a bow, effectively making a cocoon for herself. “i swear you don’t rest. which is good, i guess, since you can keep yourself busy.” she walks over to the cabinet again, looking over her shoulder at her friend. “do you want tea? i have a lot. black tea and peach and some random one my mom gave me when she visited.”

born in sichuan, daughter of a former actor and former model

only child, used to being taken care of

chinese name is zhang lin, but her parents gave her an english name in the hopes that she would be more marketable as a celebrity

thrust into a lot of acting and english classes as a child, moved to hunan when she was four years old because her parents thought it would be better for her career, and was eventually shipped off to america for a year so she could study and audition and hopefully get a career there

unfortunately didn’t work....so she came back lol

got her whole artsy thing while she was in new york, went to a lot of galleries and museums and would literally wait in line for special exhibits

unfortunately she’s an art/aesthetic hoe, sue her

was also bored when she came because she didn’t have a lot of people to hang out with so she went with a friend to a dance class

ended up really liking it and joined an all girls dance team when she came back to china!

with america not working out, her parents decided to go to korea, and on a family trip she was taken to every audition possible, and didn’t pass any of them yikes

on the last day of her trip she was scouted at the mall, and within a week she was auditioned and signed

currently the lead dancer and vocal of 7rophy!

practices a LOT so catch her at the studio all the time also at the gym all the time

has a good sense of when to practice and when to have fun, is all about the work hard play hard life and will do both to the extreme

posts a lot on social media, loves her whole gf aesthetic thing that she has going on

in general, all about the aesthetics and has an appreciation for the arts. she goes to galleries a lot, decorates her room meticulously
