I love how you've rendered the clouds as wisps. Will point out, however--all it's missing is a cat in silhouette next to her and suddenly we have one of the greatest unasked for crossovers: Sailor Tanya.

Definitely getting corruption vibes from this one. Greater Daemon Tanya when?
Lovely use of purple. It makes the uniform look like it belongs in a marching band. Although, the eye design makes me think more of hypnosis specifically than general "corruption."

She looks like she caught a nasty cold, poor thing. Alas, the Rhine Front waits for no one. Coffee helps though!

Totally agree. Very harsh how no one wants to recognize that Odin's political hostage-taking rescue adoption was such a kind and deeply caring act with no other motives whatsoever.
"when the hero of a story makes friends with whoever happens to be around them that's a 'found family' and you're all in favour of it but when i, odin the all-father, literally find part of my family -"

Nidhog153 has posted a new sidestory chapter yesterday in their incredibly amazing story, Chronicle of Isha, the Goddess of Life.
I cannot recommend this story highly enough! It has metaphysical worldbuilding leagues ahead of anything coming out of GW in quality, well-written prose and dialogue, original characters that add depth and nuance to the setting without distracting, and a textual richness that is very much the exception in the mountains of fic out there, especially for 40k.

Very annoying when the weather outside doesn't reflect the feelings within. I recognize that pathetic fallacy is fallacious, but how is one supposed to feel properly moody when it's sunny outside?

I always imagined that Sith Empires were essentially theocratic military dictatorships. All the civilian bureaucracy is subordinated to the Imperial armed forces, which are in turn commanded by the members of the Sith Order. Of course, there are the exceptional few non-Force Sensitives such as Admiral Vaiken who manage to reach a position in the upper echelons of power, but they are first and foremost exceptions, and ultimately reliant on the patronage of a high-ranking lord regardless.
In brief, a planet's government is ultimately answerable to an Imperial Governor who holds the position ex officio as the highest local authority for Imperial forces in the surrounding area. At any time, a Sith Lord may arrive and issue commands to the governor, which the governor is theoretically obliged to obey. But in practice, any governor has at least one Sith Lord who 'owns' them as part of their powerbase, and since an attack on a servant is an attack on the master, thus benefits from a certain level of protection by extension.
Nothing prevents a hotheaded young apprentice from stabbing the governor of whatever planet a mission brings him to for being slow to fulfill requests, but doing so is a very quick way to make a lot of enemies, including of one's own master once the news spreads since the apprentice is always (nominally) acting in their name.
The main key to the system working without falling apart from the chaotic evil nature of the Sith is that Sith Lords are actually quite few in number, relatively speaking. Most Imperial citizens, including public sector employees, go their entire lives without meeting one. Moreover, even large-scale conflicts between rival Sith Lords ultimately only result in changes to whatever specific routing number the taxes for a system are being sent to, not an uprooting of the entire governmental structure.
Sudden "personnel reallocations" at the upper-management level, even if disturbingly frequent, have little effect on the day-to-day running of the Empire.
How do Sith Empires work?
So how exactly do Sith Empires function, anyways? Like, what is their government system.
Here's a few theories:
Feudalistic - Bunch o Sith Lords doing their own thing. Sometimes fighting each other, sometimes working together, and generally being a nuisance to whoever is the top Sith.
Oligarchical - You have a few of the most powerful Sith at the top. They call the shots, and the other Sith have to go with it. Less powerful Sith are always trying to get to the top, the top Sith are always jockeying with each other and lesser Sith.
Democratic - "Wait, Sith? Democratic?" Yes. But it's Athenian style. Meaning that only the Sith are voting - if you're not a Sith then too bad, the egomaniacs who can kill you with laser swords, lightning, or just choking from afar decide your fate.
A "healthy" functioning Sith Empire probably has all 3 to an extent. Oh and there could be an Emperor or something thrown into the mix.
You are now imagining the prequel Senate, but it's a bunch of Sith Lords. You're welcome.

I personally subscribe to the Arren Kae is Kreia theory, because it makes a lot of sense as to why Revan turned out like that™.

#I think even if there’s a private royal service the group started wandering themselves centuries ago yknow #like they weren’t using it before because they’re self sufficient warriors etc. especially in other realms #they’re not going to suddenly start getting a driver #‘take a taxi’ go ask the Prince of Asgard to take a taxi smh #all of Asgard probably avoids any taxi service that exists out of sheer warrior will
Very plausible scenario. After a couple thousand years where the Asgardian Royal Chauffeur consistently had nothing to do, the position probably became a sinecure.
Thor tries to pick up the designated driver pilot role after feast parties and off-realm adventures following Loki’s death but it soon becomes apparent that the only decent pilot left on the team is Fandral and he’s insufferable if you drink excessively and don’t let him join

I respectfully disagree with the implication that goals should be realistic.
Though a water supply does sound nice.
"When you're in a hole, quit digging." Wrong. Don't be a quitter.
Keep digging; you will eventually come out the other side of planet.
That’s a very unrealistic goal. Settle for finding a water supply like the rest of us.
#at least until Nestlé shows up to steal it#and people say Switwerland is neutral#as if a country that headquarters a company like that can still be considered respectable for being 'neutral'#or neutrality is somehow a brave thing in the first place#consider: some people are calling for genocide#others say genocide is bad#we're not taking sides though#neutral#ALSO- Swiss women didn't have the right to vote until 1971
