Day 2: rivalries

I have read quite a couple fanfics with Bakuiida reading each other poetry and mostly Romeo and Juliet. So when I knew the there was rivales, I knew I had to draw the iconic balcony scene of the biggest love story with rival families.

This is my take for Bakuiida week day 2: into the future.

The idea is that there's this girl who can show the future and everyone is going to ask her to show them that.

Bakugou wasted no time and went right away to see what awaits for him in the future. He expected to see himself as no. 1 hero, but saw something very unexpected.

"So, what's your opinion on (group of people)?"

Occasionally, people will learn that I am queer and proceed to ask me this. I also see tumblr posts with those questions. So, what's your opinion on asexual people/trans people who don't want surgery/pansexual people/girls who identify as both bi and lesbian/people in poly relationships... and so on and so forth.

Regardless of the specific question, it's just such an odd one to me. How the friggity frack am I supposed to have an opinion on a whole group of people? In all of those groups above (and in all others), there will be people I like and people I don't. There will be rude people and kind people in all those groups, people I share interests with and people I have nothing in common with.

Ask me about a movie or a color or a kind of tree and I can say "Yeah,I like it" or "No, I dislike that". Give me a specific human being, maybe, like a celebrity, and I could say "I feel like they are nice" or "I think we wouldn't get along" but even that would just be me guessing based on pictures or news stories about them. How am I supposed to guess for a whole group of people I never even saw a picture of?

But, of course, that's not what they are actually asking. They don't really want my opinion on those people I never met - they want to hear if I believe in their existence. As if I, as a queer person, somehow have the authority to decide if other people's lived realities are valid or not. Most likely, they want to hear that I do not believe in their existence, so they can continue to deny their existence as well.

Which is even odder if you think about it. "So, what's your opinion on trees - oh no, not on the way a specific kind of tree would look like in your backyard, I mean on the existence of trees as a whole?" That's not something to have an opinion on. I can look out of my window and see them. I personally never saw a palm tree but I also know that they exist because other people have seen them. And that's trees, they can't even speak up themselves and say "Hi, I exist".

How much easier is it to know that asexual people and pansexual people and trans people and poly people and bi lesbian people exist. They all say "Hi, I exist" and I can just believe them.

Yes, I personally do believe in the existence of human beings. I believe in their ability to know who they are and to use the words that feel right for them. I do not believe that I need to put my stamp of approval on someone else's truth.
