the thing is I absolutely love it when the sick character is, you know, in such a bad shape due to pneumonia that they can't be without supervision (all though that's. most cases of pneumonia due to the risk of suddenly getting a lot worse and needing immediate medical attention). they are given the choice of staying in the hospital or, if they have someone who can stay with them for several days to keep an eye on them, go home but with constant supervision still. extra points if they DO have someone who can be there with them, but there's some vague animosity between the two and the caretaker is there out of a sense of duty, or the caretaker is someone who isn't very caring by nature

prim and proper dignified characters pale, sickly, weak on their feet. unbuttoning their collar, sweat-soaked hair, unsure footing and fluttery breaths. muttering a hesitant, "I don't... feel well."

The idea of someone literally “waking up with a fever” is so sweet to me. Just imagine whumpee at their partners house, having a slight headache and a weird feeling in their throat, but thinking nothing of it, taking a nap with partner and blaming it on being tired. In a few hours, whumpee wakes up to partner placing a cold flannel to their forehead and whispering their name into their ear.

“Hey, you gotta wake up baby, you’re burning up. Why didn’t you tell me you weren’t feeling good?” In a hushed voice.

Whumpee lets their eyes close as partner feels their cheeks and embrace them again. They feel terrible, but maybe waking up sick was the perfect catalyst for the love and care they so desperately desired.

Sims 2′s illness system is the best BY FAR and I’m not just talking about its variety and realism

Sims 2 allows sims to actually spread “germs”

While Sims 3 and 4 have moodlet “broadcasters” that spread illness by just being near a sim carrying the broadcasting illness moodlet (chances of catching a sim illness were based on interaction category), Sims 2 has it so sims need some means of *SPREADING* the illness via sneezing or coughing.

When a sim in Sims 2 coughs or sneezes, they produce sickness “tiles”, and a sim who is within these “tiles” during a contagion cycle is likely to come down with the illness that produced them.
