"I'll get the tea. I'll be right back! I set it all in the next room." She explained, dashing through the small door. She had a tendency to do things is excess, but if her taichou didn't mind then she wouldn't be embarrassed. She supposed it was just in her personality to go big or go home. Perhaps that was why she clashed with Sentaro so often? No matter, that wasn't important then. Not when she was about to relax with her taichou. He needed some rest sometimes, and being invited to be a part of that was an honor to her.

She returned not moments later with the tea, carefully maneuvering to avoid spilling any of it. "Want to head outside?" She offered, inclining her head toward the door with a smile. "Isane and I went for a walk earlier. It's a really nice day out."

Such preparedness! He almost flinched being utterly taken back by her loud exclamation, but such an energetic being couldn’t be frowned upon, honestly, his Squad would probably be in shambles without someone like this.

"O-Of course.." Ukitake’s voice wavered for just a brief moment before the surprise washed away. Some quiet time and tea would be a good way to sooth Kiyone’s excitement to a degree- although he did rather enjoy her high spirits, it was infectious! “Not to worry Kiyone, I’m pleased to see that you’re so full of vigor. It’s my personal belief that if you spend time with someone especially enthusiastic, it does wonders for your health!" He chuckled and extended a hand outward to pat the blonde’s shoulder. “Come, let’s go get some tea."

"Of course I made that! I said all your favorites, didn't I?" She exclaimed in her usual excitable tone. It was so wonderful to see her taichou up and moving again that she may have overreacted.

"And I'd love to join you, if you'd have me." She nodded happily, putting together two servings of the drink for them. "I was just so excited to see that you were feeling better...I might have gotten a little carried away." She flashed him a sheepish grin, rubbing the back of her neck.

"Ah! It’s good to be up and about again— I’m glad to see you kept things in order for me Kiyone!…"

Wait did she say tea.. did she say all of them…

"Have you brewed some sweetened matcha? That would be splendid for a break on the porch, won’t you join me? I have some left over candies from my time in Ugendo that we can have with it, you deserve it after all for holding the fort for such a long time."

Moonflower: What’s one dream your character has had?

Doesn’t remember her dreams very well, but one dream she remembered better than the others. In it, she had beat Sentaro at some kind of competition and had thus been promoted to fukutaichou. This was, of course, before Rukia occupied that rank.

Yew: What makes your character sad?

How Kaien’s death went down has always unsettled her. She’s always felt like it could have been prevented somehow. Better security could have been put in place against hollows, more training given for hollows with phenomenal powers. But in the end none of that matters. What breaks her heart the most is that their novice shinigami, Rukia, was the one to have his blood on her hands. The fact that her experience as a shinigami is stained with the blood of a close comrade —that they had failed to shield her from the ugliness that early on in her career— still haunts her sometimes.

Wallflower: What’s one time your character has endured under difficult circumstances?

Breaking all of the rules in order to interrupt Rukia’s execution was hard. Figuring out that her loyalty to her squad transcended her loyalty to Central 46’s decisions was unsettling. But after all that had happened, she knew it was the right thing. The worst part of it all was being attacked by Sui Feng —one of her own— and being told what a disgrace she was. But as long as Ukitake was still fighting, she couldn’t give up.

Poppy: What is something your character wants to forget?

She sometimes tricks herself into thinking she’d like to forget about Kaien. He left a hole in their division that was impossibly to repair entirely. But she knows that it is pointless to just erase tragedy because that also erases the room to grow from it.

Thistle: What’s one time your character has been angry and harsh with someone?

She spends a good amount of time being harsh with Sentaro. To an outsider, their competition could easily be mistaken for some kind of blood feud.

Pink Zinnia: Who will your character always be friends with?

Sentaro. They have their fair share of disagreements, but at the end of the day there’s no one else she’d rather share her position as third seat with. Not much would ever change that.

Rosemary: What is something your character will always remember?

 She will always remember the day Kaien Shiba died. It wasn’t just that the squad lost a great fukutaichou, but that they lost a great man. She hopes every day that Rukia sees just how much she’s come to help the squad grow and recover and that she doesn’t dwell upon the scars of guilt.

Kiyone would like to think that she is well-liked by her peers. She’s certainly not commonly hated. But with her signature upbeat energy and penchant for outbursts she is definitely an acquired taste.

Lazy afternoons with her sister never fail to bring her joy, even if they're just sitting and staring at the clouds. She also gets a special kind of glee from putting Sentaro in his place, even if it's over a small matter. She's happy to see that Ukitake is content and that the division is running smoothly.

For being one of Kyoraku's subordinates she sure struck Kiyone as pretty up-tight. But she shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, right?

"The Eighth, huh? I wouldn't have guessed. I'm Kiyone Kotetsu. Co-third seat of the Twelfth! It's nice to meet you."

"I’m from the Eighth Division—Fourth seat, so my duties keep me a little busy. Not much time to go looking at other divisions…" After a moment she shook her head, giving a slight bow in greeting. “Fujiwara Rei, it’s nice to meet you."
