First Post! I was looking for a special event to start posting publicly. Today, on Father's day- I'm giving in to that nudge.

Scene from monastery near #inlelake #myanmar . We spent the greatest afternoon at this monastery. We had been riding our bike along dirt paths, without any map (and a misguided sense of direction)- and decided to stop and explore this abandoned looking building. We were greeted with a group of playful kids, shortly followed by this monk... he gave us a tour, and told us how he doesn’t see many tourists in that area. We were clearly lost 😬he helped us out with direction and invited us to have lunch at the monastery the next day. Not knowing how to express our gratitude, my friend gifted him the groceries she had bought that morning- some fresh fruits and vegetables. . I took this last picture of him as he came the door to bid goodbye, still holding the bag of veggies- suddenly the best gift in the world. #happinessissimple #lifeisgood #monklife (at Nyaung Shwe)

When my personal resilience is at an all time low, I look at this picture. I’m definitely not a fashionista. While traveling, I often depend on some quick local finds to reinforce my wardrobe. Do you own a pair of these classic Thai pants? Mine were bought out of necessity, to cover up my legs to visit the temple Looking back at this, I realize I don’t really care too much about how I look.
