There was something strangely satisfying to her admission that she was, in fact, afraid. He could use that, if he must.
"One who means no harm is a veritable rarity in these lands or any other," he said, and his words, like the two serpents, had wings. "Thou must seek something out of healing. Anyone who claims to act selflessly is naught but a liar, cowering away from their own desires. I would think the same should be true of a dragon. That is what thou art, is it not?"
"A bit. T'would be a lie to say otherwise."
She was thankful that her home had not already been reduced to cinders.
Carefully, cautiously, she placed the folded scarlet cloak at the foot of the bed. Her gaze met his, draconian pupils focusing on him for a brief moment before Annalise lowered her head, and stepped away.
"However," she started, "My thoughts, when I found you, were not of who you were. I only saw someone who I believed was in need of dire healing."
Absentmindedly, she stroked the feathers and leathery skin of the shawl resting on her shoulders.
"But I assure you, this place is safe. I mean no harm. To anyone, truly."

Sandaled footsteps echoed across the walls of the hiding place, with red and gold clothing trailing behind. This man, wearing the helm and armor of two winged serpents, and being flanked on either side by one in the flesh, was unnaturally tall, and unnaturally long-limbed. Bright red hair, like that of the fire giants of mere legend now, fell across his broad shoulders. The insignia on the back of his cape would have been unmistakeable — but one does not pursue another walking backwards.
And one golden eye — for the other was closed, always — beheld the creature. And he stood tall, without weapon — not that he could not in an instant call his spear to his hand in a whirlwind of flame.
"What have we here?"
Starter for @flameimpaler
It was sad that she had to rely on her cowardice to make it this far, seeing as she lacked any real understanding of her body. What were wings good for if she didn't know how to move them at all or fly? She hasn't built strength to them to be able to move them, nonetheless, and fly to safety.
How unfortunate.
She had hoped that the soldiers that had been on her tail early would become lost and give up, return to the city empty-handed to that horrid tyrant, and pursue something else.
Instead, she has trapped herself in a closed off location with them at the exit and foreign footsteps from further within alerts her.
"Hello?"
Gods, she truly hopes that nothing lunges out at her and its just someone else hiding out.
