finnick is bad at talking to people. are you listening. FINNICK IS BAD AT TALKING TO PEOPLE. the man is socially stunted. he is not good at making friends. he's good at handling a very specific type of very delicate situation. he can walk on eggshells with the best of them. but he is not good at normal conversations.
like. have you seen him trying to ally with katniss in catching fire?? he's just throwing stuff at a wall and desperately hoping something sticks just like. i need to convince this girl to like me. what's likeable about me? um. i'm hot?? maybe?? people like that about me, right? so maybe, if i, like, does she- no? ok. ummm. jokes? hu- does she like humor? jokes?? no?? uhhh fuck um MAGS. mags. people like mags. i will introduce her to mags. mags help me wingman for me please i don't know what to do.
he doesn't know how. he isn't good at it. he's not a hyper-charismatic badass who can charm anyone in an instant, he's just good at bullshitting his way through interviews. that's all. if he wants someone to genuinely like or trust him, he's floundering.
