I heard some astonishing yet sad news today that one of the biggest employers in my home town of Ipswich went into administration, leaving 134 employees redundant. They were the “middle man” between the customer and insurance company, offering you good insurance deals - but you could only do this over the phone.

The problem wasn’t a recession. It wasn’t bad financial management. I mean everybody needs insurance of some kind. You can’t drive your car without insurance. So the question is why have they gone out of business? Well, the simple answer is that most people who buy insurance policies today do so over the internet, not over the phone! I mean would you rather get on the phone, be placed on hold for 10 minutes after pressing several options and then play 20 questions with the agent on the other side? Or would you simply go online and be insured in less than 10 minutes without the hassle of being pressurised by a sales person on the other side? I know I would!

You see the industrial age is over. Retail as we know it is a thing of the past. Look at your local High Street. It’s full of empty shops. People are choosing to shop online more and more.

The key to financial freedom lies at your finger tips, from the comfort of your own home. And all you need is an internet connection and a smart phone. Don’t rely any longer on your employer to pay your bills at the end of the month and dictate to you when you can or can’t go on holiday.

Don’t depend on the government to look after you either. It’s a known fact that most politicians are career politicians interested in lining their own pockets at your expense, all the while keeping you under the thumb and giving you the bare minimum so that you’ll go back to them again and again. People now have a clear choice. Do they graduate from university with £50,000 of debt? They can then either get a job, earn a living and retire in 50 years on the equivalent of minimum wage, or, they can build a business and have the opportunity to retire after only 3-5 years. This is the Industrial Age moving in to the Information Age at it’s most obvious. Those who realise this, will be the ones who will benefit massively financially.

With university fees being tripled in the UK, the average student debt is now £50,000. The younger generation are starting life with chains around their neck. The choice the younger generation now has, is going to uni and starting life in debt or starting a business where in 3 years they could become financially independent.
