mia always believed that everything looked way prettier through her lens , heightened scenes and sounds simmered down when she peaked through the viewfinder — the places & people seeming a lot less intimidating as she watches on like a bystander watching a movie. these little films have no real-life consequences and the woman falls into her sense of escapism quite easily , she peacefully lives her minutes through the loosely hung camera around her neck. 

but then , every once in a while , it’s as though the camera doesn’t do justice to what’s in front of her — and shin byeol just happened to be one of those moments. 

she saw her once, many moons ago and she didn’t need photographic evidence to remember her face, her smile — the sharp gaze that felt like too much and not enough at the same time. the adventure of a lifetime packed into one night with her, talking, whispering, saying something... saying nothing. mia couldn’t have called it a dream because she remembers so clearly, whenever she thinks about it.. thinks about everything, smiles fondly at everything but regrets not being brave enough to kiss her — and yet it lingers on her lips , the tingling feeling that she has to shake off. 

it’s been a while since , though. no numbers exchanged , nothing but a name and the blurry pictures she keeps in a folder on her laptop with a little star under it. mia’s quick to move on though, she’s thinking about the next adventure, the next story, the next— 

“ byeol? ”

it’s barely a whisper, eyes widened as she stands on the doorway, not letting anyone else come in or go out, her held breath doesn’t escape either. the younger hasn’t noticed yet so mia indulges the extra few seconds of observing, remembering.. or rather thinking that maybe she hadn’t forgotten like she thought she did...

the nervous picking at her lesser lip is a little out of character but the fond smile is quickly replaced with it as she walks up to the counter,  “ hey..�� she’s hopeful because the possibility of being a forgotten memory is quite possible and mia’s ready to sprint out the door if that happens , the tiny gulp giving her nerves away and she tries to say something more but.. “ hi.. ”

the world seems so big , just as it does so closely knit together. on one hand , mia just ran into an old friend she would’ve sworn to have never gotten a chance to meet again & on the other.. the woman can’t tell if it was two rights and a left or two lefts and a right because everything feels so distinctly unfamiliar. 

her confidence and the need to help never wavered though , she’d been here a whole six days more than the younger so giving a tour was almost.. mandatory, right? probably not — especially with her very limited knowledge but it’s the thought that counts , shh. 

but that’s mia isn’t it. the culmination of her being solely relying on first instinct and not so much on the thought process that leads up to it — the hit or miss is inevitable. like when she asked for her first camera as a birthday present and her dad , all excited asked her about what she wanted to shoot but mia shrugged , entirely unaware of the future and perfectly content living in the present of knowing what she wanted as a present. 

she’ll figure it out — always does. 

“ we’re not lost don’t worry.. this is just the scenic route!! ” she huffs with a tired grin , the fluster only barely cracking through her determination. “ it’s suuuper pretty here , isn’t it? ” mia takes her 53rd photo of their little journey before turning to look at hari , “ trust me , you wouldn’t have gotten a better tour..” definitely false , they’ve strayed from the mansion and in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the view from the top of the trail.. mia probably got a little carried away. 

nevertheless , hari seemed to go along with it .. or maybe the girl was just being all to kind but the company paired well with trip.  “ how’d you end up here , though? — if you don’t mind me asking.. ” breathy words question the younger as her own self leads them further on the trail , a more hopeful huff with the next step as she sees the distant horizon start to look more picturesque.

hi hi!!! i had a lil intro written already but tumblr ate that because it hates me but what’s new 🙃 but hiii everyone’s intro looks so great don’t look at mine pls we’re making this up as we go 🤙 but i’m ria ( s/h 21+ ) and i present to you one lee mia !! .. ( yes our names rhyme we don’t talk about it shh ) your resident film director so if she’s being annoying & up in your face with a camera you can def tell her to gtfo <3 she’s just here looking for ~ inspiration ~ anywayy more about her under the cut and if you’d like to plot, just gimme a lil ❤️ and i’ll come runnin’ to youuu!! ( also lmk if discord is better for you heh )

BACKGROUND. 

lil mia was born to some big, well-known famous people.. her mom was an actress who you’ve probably seen in a few movies and her dad is a director who’s probably made some of your favourite movies..

she was born in seoul and her mom took a hiatus from acting to stay at home with her but after she grew up a lil more, her mom went back to work. so she has moved around a lot thanks to busy work schedules of mom and dad 

mom and dad were the “it” couple and mia was often forced into the limelight too but she honestly had no idea what was happening, she just thought that they were a fun, happy family 

mia naturally grew up around movie/tv sets and has had a fascination with this world ever since she was younger, she spent most of her teen years visiting sets and learning all that she could 

it was all fantastic until mia started to grow older and realise everything that was really happening

she didn’t realise this but after mia was born.. her mom wasn’t getting enough work and people often referred to her as a has-been, one hit movie a year wasn’t enough and her mom was..... struggling 

and because her mom got busy taking care of mia and her work.. dad started to pull away too , some nights he wouldn’t come home and the whisper arguments that mia started to hear.... 

there were always awful rumors going around like her mom was having an affair , or her dad was. or the family was falling apart...

while mia tried to focus on her goal of becoming a film director ( she also wanted to be an actress but after seeing what her mom was going through... put a pin on that ) , things at school kept getting worse 

classmates are mean and mia was a relatively chill , non-aggressive , out-going kid so she never really fought back.. 

until there was that incident in high-school where someone kept bad-mouthing her parents and mia kinda lost it and beat ‘em up and almost got expelled..

her parents thought it’d be best to send her away from everything so for college, mia went to the new york film academy to get her bachelors 

she worked on some well-received short films and was pretty good at what she did ( also a minor in photography but that was more of a hobby ) 

soon after she came back to korea , she landed a job at great production house and everything was looking perfect 

*record scratch* her parents tell her they’re getting divorced. 

her perfect world crumbled for sure this time and mia is a bit of a wreck essentially blaming herself for the divorce aha

she can’t focus on her job so... quits 

shoves everything deep down before deciding to get away and focus on something else.. like this revolutionary short film that’s going to get her all the awards and she can make a name for herself outside of her parents!!!!!

finds maehwa and voila , fresh start 

she’s taking auditions for her film lets go kdsjhfk

PERSONALITY.

mia is sort of an.. loved by all kinda person.... maybe because she’s a people-pleaser aha

additionally a push-over ( esp if you knew her back then ), but that has gotten better 

she’s a fun person over-all, here holding her camera all “you’re doing amazing, sweetie” like to support you 

but she can get caught up in things very easily,, like.. she might be in her room for three days straight, editing and she’s barely even eaten ahh no trauma a lil hyperfixation can’t fix 

she really hates feeling... sad and hates it when people around her are sad because she’s a firm believer of shoving problems way down and having a shot instead WOOO call her if you wanna not feel sad

is VERY serious about her career as a director.. she loves doing it and is also terrified of the thought that she can’t do much else besides that 

fame has sort of scarred her though and she’s also been weary of letting people close 

anyway this is all very random and makes no sense i need sleep jdkhfskj

but pls come plot with us 🥺
