          she likes california well enough. it’s not home, still far from new york, but it’s hardly the worst place she’s ever been in her life. the weather’s nice, at least. she can be thankful for that, if only because it gives her the excuse to slip out of the safe house they’ve taken up when things get too restless, everyone squabbling over useless things.

the question feels a little high school.     lorna doesn’t really care where the woman sits, but she’s considerate enough to pull her backpack from the spot none the less. there is no residency to claim over a park bench, there is no monopoly on spending a day outdoors in good weather.
