How mentally ill does someone have to be to qualify for not guilty by reason of insanity? It surprises me that someone like Jeffrey Dahmer who was diagnosed with so many mental illnesses would still be considered guilty.
To actually be found not guilty by reason of insanity, the court would have to determine two things:
1) Did they suffer from a mental illness?
2) If so, as a result of this mental illness, were they unable to determine what they were doing was wrong or appreciate the consequences of their acts
So, while yes, Jeffrey Dahmer was diagnosed with multiple mental illnesses, it wasn’t substantial enough to prove that he still didn’t know what he was doing was wrong. You have to prove that you’re seriously delusional to be considered insane. Jeffrey Dahmer was aware and intelligent enough to cover up his tracks and smooth-talk his way out of trouble with the police. A person that’s found legally insane wouldn’t have obscured their evil deeds from the police because they wouldn’t think what they’re doing is wrong.
By law, a mental illness doesn’t automatically extenuate you from your wrongdoings and crimes. You’re still responsible unless proven that you were extremely delusional and not in the right state of mind to know that your actions were wrong/illegal.

“I’m looking at how feminism has progressed and how the sex industry has totally infiltrated pop culture for the past 15 years. Now all we get is superstars who are talented and beautiful simulating stripping and pole dancing. And I was very influenced by it for a while, as well with pop culture, but I just think “Isn’t it time to move on now?” I just hope more people understand that it’s more than me beating the system here. And when I say the system, I’m talking about the media, the press, adverts, fashion, the cosmetic industry, dieting, gossip magazines; all of that stuff that doesn’t enhance our lives and which thrives on lowering people’s self-esteem so they’d buy into that product, into that whole lifestyle thing of being a perfect person. That’s what I’m against.“
