This is one of my favorite lines from Halsin - when after talking to your partner who prefers monogamy, you choose Halsin anyway. He's such a selfless man, always putting nature, people, and community first, all above his own needs and wants- even if it means he's struggling inside, as long as others are okay.

But not this time. While he's not jumping up and down for joy at someone else losing you, he's not gonna waste this chance. He's found a new, real, unexcepted love for probably the first time in a long time and nothing, not even the pain of a possible friend is going to stop him from diving into this love. And since you're actively choosing him, who is he to deny this chance?

And if you choose to break up with your partner without talking to them first, Halsin does find it kind of unfair and cruel. He's a little hesitant to proceed and yet he still can't bring himself to deny you. He's choosing to be selfish, which is just not a Halsin thing. This man wants love so freaking badly.

These decision paths also hit harder during the epilogue when he goes "yet you chose me". Because it would mean we not only chose him after the victory, but we quite literally and directly chose him over someone we already romantically bonded with, even though he was content to share or be rejected.
