Ghost Story

That’s not my name. The thought bubbled to the surface, and he didn’t understand why it made him feel cold inside. He was winded. He shouldn’t be winded. He had walked away from hours of grueling city street warfare without being winded. He looked down at his hands, pale and covered in rough callouses and utterly unfamiliar and felt the urge to pick his skin and peel it away.          And then recognized something- a gift from a friend years ago. A ring of plain gold, with a black stone on it, sitting on one of his fingers. It shouldn’t fit these hands, but it did.          “Rand!” The boy said. “Rand, what’s going on?” Fear and compassion were so thick in the boy’s voice it made something in his stomach twinge.          That’s not my name, and these aren’t my hands and- oh Light he was going to be sick. But if not Rand, then who was he? The second the question popped into his head, the answer followed.          I am Lews Therin Telamon. I am the Dragon. And then, the pieces all clicked into place, memory flooded back, and he began to scream.

The first half of my WoT Secret Santa Gift gift for @mute90. I had initially planned to post the whole thing at once when it was done but I got sick over winter break and didn't end up writing as much as I wanted. I decided to post the first half now before we got any further out from December.

(Hopefully the rest shouldn't take to much longer I'm recovered now and writing at a decent pace again, and also this idea WILL NOT leave me alone, as evidence by me writing 10k words for just this first chunk).

A gift for @a-fine-gentlebeing for @feast-of-lights 2024! I tapped in a little late to fill this slot, but I'm pretty happy with the result, and I hope you are too. I had a draft of a post-canon Rand/Elayne/Aviendha/Min-centric fic started, but it turned out that I'd abandoned it for a reason, so this ended up being a whole new thing that was really fun to write.

It's been several years since I read the books, so there may be some points of contentious canon, I'll admit. However, I did keep Elayne calling Faile "Zarine" on purpose, because 1: it's kind of funny and 2: I like the idea of her deliberately blind-spotting Manetheren's government after Tarmon Gai'don for a while.

Anyway. Have fun!

Here is a fic I wrote for @asuitablegirl96 for @feast-of-lights gift exchange! It is a low stakes, casual story about how Moiraine and Lan ran out of names in their list of potential Dragons and decided (well, Moiraine did) to just live for themselves for a while. It's canon adjacent, happening a few months before the main story.

Feast of Lights Not-So-Secret-Santa 2024

Hello everyone! Its that time of year again!

This year, we're repeating the same open exchange format from last year. Here is the link to the form to fill out if you're interested in receiving a gift!

Sometime tomorrow (12/2), I will post a link to the spreadsheet of responses on this blog, and pin it. If you're interesting in filling that request, just put your name next to the request (I'd ask people to limit themselves to only signing up for one request, and only one person per request).

On 12/17, I'll lock the spreadsheet and post any unfilled requests as a separate "Treats" list that anyone can fill.

If you sign up to receive a gift, you aren't obligated to create a gift, and you can sign up to create a gift without asking for a gift. With the Treats structure, everyone who asks for a gift should get one.

If you need to drop out before 12/17, just remove your name from the spreadsheet. If you need to drop out after 12/19, please DM me @anyboli.
