no one asked but I recently saw a headcanon that percy's hair is so black that it sometimes looks blue in certain lighting and I can't stop thinking about it because that exact trait has basis in myth, it's attributed to poseidon himself via the epithet Kyanochaites, which references his hair being so dark that it looks to be blue, like the sea

I know rick portrayed pjo hermes as being a grown ass man to make him look more like a mature father figure but in my head I always viewed him as being a young guy, no older looking than apollo, like he is in the myths....mostly because I feel hermes embodies youth in his personality, but also because I think it adds another dimension to why he came off as a bad father to luke....he was literally just a stupid teen dad lol

What if, the image that Percy sees in the mirror, the “cooler” version of himself, is like book accurate Percy. I just think that would be such a funny, messed up little Easter egg.

percy's family on his mortal side were greek orthodox arab christians. percy himself grew up irreligious but that's besides the point

I like to think that even though sally lost touch with her family's culture/religion long ago she still wanted to honor it somehow, so percy's middle name is Alexios

it's a greek name that dates back to the byzantine empire meaning "defender"

his two names contrast each other in their meaning but encompass what percy is -- what he is born to be vs what he wants to be. perseus represents destruction while alexios represents protection.......he is a sword but he is also a shield!!

very much want to write a percy jackson fic based on my trip to salem MA this october.....inspired by the niche experience of whimsically walking into yet another of the billion witchy themed trinket shops there and immediately getting jumpscared by an altar to poseidon

it already felt so out of place but his pleasant little smile contrasting literally every description of him in the myths as this violent force of nature is what really killed me. (percy voice) stop starin at me with them big ole eyes

kind of makes me sick how after everything that has happened to him percy is deeply traumatized and still incredibly self-loathing and rick has (obviously unintentionally) written him in such a way that he seems incredibly repressed and on the precipice of losing it while acting like he's moving on with his life. we are actually going to end this series with the narrative still pretending like he's fine and nothing is wrong. is this that happy ending for him we were all told about because...............
