one of my favorite subtle implications in the series is that it seems the Titan Army was fully banking on Percy being the host of Kronos. Why else would they make their main base a cruise ship if their primary enemy is a son of Poseidon? Named after Andromeda, the wife of Perseus? Why would they work on Oceanus specifically being free so much? Side notably with other children of Poseidon? Why plant Zeus and Hades' items of power on Percy when Luke already had them? Why only Zeus and Hades' items, not Poseidon's? Well because they really need Percy as Kronos' host, that's why. (and Poseidon siding with them because of that would be a bonus as well)

I like to imagine Luke's cabin on the Princess Andromeda is fully decked out with like "WELCOME PERCY" and sea-themed sheets and everything and he hates it so much cause it's a constant reminder he failed and he was Kronos' second choice. Also then he gets his super special pegasus not even exactly stolen by Percy, but the pegasus willingly defects to be Percy's personal steed instead, which must just be insult to injury. Luke has immense one-sided beef with Percy and Percy has no idea.

SEA CREATURES!!!! They all love their prince so much!! Other than cutting them out of nets, I'm a firm believer he is a big protector of their areas of migration and he always make sure to gently herd them away from places with large human activity or places with heavy pollution. JUST!! PERCY!! guiding a school of fish!!

Percy loves nature so much, he loves both the land and sea, he loves all the creatures of the sea, from the tiny minnows darting around his feet to the "scary" shark (which he canoncially thinks of like puppies), he loves the animals of the land as fiercely as he loves the animals of the sea❗️❗️

SO SO REAL genuinely was shocked seeing this in my inbox bc this exact thought has been dwelling in my mind for the past week!! especially with the naiads. him waving back to the girls in the lake in tlt? explaining their behavior to zoe when she thought the naiads helping them were mocking her in ttc? that scene in tbotl? such important moments that show how percy treats them as equals and tries to understand them/earn their trust in ways that few heroes have done. he's respectful, and doesn't throw his weight around as a son of poseidon, which he could absolutely do by the time ttc rolled around, but he never did. he's always asking for their help. I like to think the nymphs at camp, regardless of what kind they are, are drawn to that humility and just feel safe around him.

ofc there's also the obvious reason that he's the son of poseidon lol....in the same way that percy is a celebrity to sea creatures it'd be cute if the naiads at camp are constantly seeking his company and attention, not because they have nefarious motivations or anything (even though at least a couple of them are def down bad for him. they have eyes you know) but that's literally seawater jesus to them why would you not wanna hang out with him lmao. they play with his hair and give him pretty rocks so percy will never say to sitting in the lake or creek and chatting w the girls <3 whenever another camper happens to see them all together percy strangely doesn't feel out of place at all....

it reminds me of that popular hc of percy being close w the aphrodite cabin. like yes he feels a connection w them because they're all tied to the water one way or another, but he also knows what it's like to be misunderstood and devalued based on his outward appearance. they're kin :)

rotating the idea of percy interacting w the sea gods that are part of his dad's retinue all the time in my mind. little palaemon who rides around on dolphins and leukothea who both originally died tragic deaths before becoming deities, proteus whose job is to herd seals, glaucus who used to be a regular mortal fisherman but became a merman god by literally just eating a plant, the other 49 nereids and ESPECIALLY thetis omg.........

no one asked but I recently saw a headcanon that percy's hair is so black that it sometimes looks blue in certain lighting and I can't stop thinking about it because that exact trait has basis in myth, it's attributed to poseidon himself via the epithet Kyanochaites, which references his hair being so dark that it looks to be blue, like the sea
