I was talking about this on Twitter with some other fans, but it deserves to go here too:  Abigail’s character is about survival.  She has spent her whole life around a dangerous man (GJH), had to adapt to what he wanted to survive, and even after he dies, she almost dies, she is immediately surrounded by other people (Will, Jack, Hannibal, ect) who all want something from her.  So, to survive, she does the same as she did with her father:  She adapts.  She, a bit like Will and his empathy, picks up on what other people want from her, and shows them what they want to see/what will keep her safe.  Hannibal wants a murder protégé?  She’ll be that.  Will wants someone to protect?  She’ll be that.  We never really know what Abigail wants, other than survival.
