Civics 101: Rule of Law

Rule of law means that people are only bound by laws passed by our legislature.

In short, that means no government official can, by their own authority, tell you what to do.

If the state Governor walks up to me and says, “You, put on a mask,” I do not have to do it.

The Governor cannot delegate powers he does not have. If the Governor said to the guy standing next to him, “tell her she has to put on a mask,” I still would not have to do it.

If the Governor wrote and signed a document saying that I have to put on a mask, I still would not have to do it. Just because it’s on paper doesn’t make it more valid.

If the Governor wrote and signed an document telling the guy next to him to tell me that I have to put on a mask, I still would not have to do it.

The Governor can compel the guy who works for him to do things, but he can’t compel me to do anything, directly or by proxy.

It’s quite simple, really. This is a nation of laws. We don’t have divine right of kings here.

not to get political but im begging you guys to stop coming to hawaii. in maui theyre asking to put a ‘pause’ on flights bc we literally do not have enough room or staff to service you. the roads are so full that its causing a major backup when ppl need to get to work.

on top of this, i heard that by September? theyre expecting to get rid of the mask rule (if 70% of ppl are vaccinated/all goes well) but ill be honest w/ you, i know many locals arent getting the vaccine and i know plenty of tourist arent gonna take the necessary precautions.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: it's more important to know and understand fully why something is harmful than it is to drop everything deemed problematic. It's performative and does nothing. People wonder why nobody has critical thinking skills and this is part of it because no one knows how to simousltansly critique and consume media. You need to use discernment.
