In old Slavic tradition, much stress was placed on proper burial rites upon an individual’s death to ensure the soul’s purity and peace as it separated from the body. The death of an unbaptized child, a violent and/or untimely death, the death of a ravenous sinner (a witch, murderer, or etc.), or even just an improper burial all could result in a soul becoming unclean and thus damned prior to death.

The Upyr is an extremely dangerous vampire as it drains each victim of blood and uses extremely sharp fangs to gnaw open a person’s neck to drain someone of their blood. It also has equally sharp claws to tear into the chest so that it can consume their victim’s heart.

An upyr looks like a normal person and is active between noon and the extremely early hours of the morning, either searching for prey or blending into its environment. The only real way to tell if a person is an upyr is the eyes. These vampires don’t blink much and their eyes are unnaturally bright in color, even glowing in the dark. It also prefers to attack people in their homes but will resort to killing in the open if need be.

Isaac’s condo, Brighton Beach NYC. Complete with a large living space with marble flooring, a master bedroom, a guest bedroom, a master bathroom completely decorated with marble, a luxurious office with vintage items peppered about, and a large kitchen which is rarely used.

Isaac cannot create other vampires at all. He has no vampiric venom that could turn someone, his blood doesn’t carry any special qualities that could turn someone, he can’t resurrect someone to bring them back as one; he simply just can’t turn anyone even if he wanted to (which he doesn’t).

The only reason he’s a vampire is because he was reborn through the death he caused by his own hands.
