you ever think that there aren’t enough Hazbin fics where the characters misunderstand each other due to the hugely different worlds they all grew up in?

like,

Pentious is (presumably) English from Victorian times

Cherri from Australia in the 1980s ish

Alastor lived in the US through prohibition and the Great Depression

Charlie has only ever lived in Hell, and only heard about Earth filtered back through what the sinners tell her and what they build in Hell

imagine how often they must confuse each other with references and slang that makes no sense to the rest of the group, e.g. Pen tries to impress Cherri by talking about his flock of fancy pigeons and how he was a champion pigeon roller back in his day

imagine all the nice earthly things that Charlie would have to assume are terrible because she can only imagine the Hellbound nearest equivalent term, e.g. Vaggie mentions Alastor’s magical slice of bayou within his quarters and how she “wouldn’t mind having fireflies in (her) room too”, and Charlie just wonders 1) why Alastor has filled his room with arsonists (did the bayou come with them pre-installed? Is that just what all earth swamps are full of? The moisture level doesn’t seem hugely conducive to fire setting) and 2) why anyone would want to do the same

feel free to ignore me, the Hazbin brain rot is poking at me again, this all popped into my head and I don’t have many people IRL to talk about fanfic thoughts (esp Charlastor) with

He knocks over glasses, watches Angel Dust while he sleeps, speaks a language only Husk can (begrudgingly) understand, sets Lucifer's shoes on fire (it can control fire, don't ask), and hisses at TVs.

Eventually, it commands the same respect as Alastor as it trots down the streets of the Pentagram. Imps are diving away from the unpredictable creature. Sinners sprint away in fear of having to face a year-long regeneration. Even Overlords know not to cross it.

And his name... is Fred.

Alastor stared dreamily down at Charlie. He doesn’t need much sleep but he enjoys her company. As the sun began shining, Charlie stretched and yawned. She turns over with half lidded eyes to see Alastor staring down at her. “What the FUCK?!” Charlie screamed.

“Goooood morning!” Alastor grinned.

“Al, please. I’ve asked you not to do that. I’d rather not wake up with a heart attack every day!”

“I’m simply gazing at my beautiful girlfriend in the morning light.”

“Can’t you do that from bed?!” Charlie turned back over. Then Alastor was grinning in bed beside her.

“I could. Would you prefer I stay in bed with you?”

“Yep.” Charlie snuggled against him. She closed her eyes and sighed. “You’re still staring at me, aren’t you?”

“Of course!”

“Fine, stare all you want but let me sleep in.”
