Late Nights

I stay up late because that is the one time where I avoid everything.

The night is mine to hold dear and I keep watching the minutes tick by until it’s 2 am, then 3, then 4.

This is the only way for me to avoid the fear of tomorrow and though it does not last forever it certainly does reassure me.

By staying up I have hours to myself,

No parents, no siblings, no responsibilities.

All the time in the world to have for myself and myself alone.

Late nights are the only time where I can exhale because I don’t have the weight of responsibilities on my shoulders.

Though I know my body will eventually collapse in on itself from exhaustion, the time I get for myself is more than worth the soul crushing disappointment that comes with waking up.

If you think about it that way, doesn’t the night seem beautiful?
