Another thing I love that I don’t think we talk about enough: Edward Teach is absolutely not cool. He has crafted a cool persona to wrap around himself as protection (because in pirate society he would be dead otherwise), but his actual self, the man that he is underneath, is deeply uncool. We know this from the moment that he does that leap off the stairs in “Discomfort in a Married State.”

Ed isn’t the cool bad boy who loves the loser despite his foibles. Ed is a dork. Ed is charmed by kindness and flamboyance and humor because that’s what he longs for and that’s who he IS underneath. He doesn’t settle for Stede. He doesn’t condescend to love Stede.

He’s deeply uncool. Ed is a cringefail loser boyfriend too.

If you have $63 to spend on getting fucking kebabs delivered, I think you’re probably not someone so disabled or poor that you’re incapable of going to the location to pick up your own order. I’m talking to the people who have $63 to piss away on ONE fucking meal. I’m talking to the people who have the means to get their own shit, but don’t out of sheer laziness. Fuck me for not spelling that out in painful clarity for the wokescolds.

I’m just going to be a grumpy old bitch and say it. Go get your damn food yourself. This is what we used to do before these terrible delivery apps became ubiquitous. If you wanted a restaurant meal without actually eating at the restaurant, you called, placed the order, then got off your ass and went to go get it. With what delivery apps charge, and what the restaurant upcharges for an app order, and to have your food take forever to arrive, and the person delivering it is probably broke and miserable and getting paid fucking peanuts to be your private burrito taxi…

Anyway, the entire food delivery industry sucks. Stop supporting it.
