He took his school bag and waved to his small family.
“Mom. Grandpa, I’m going. See you later.” he ran out of the shop door as he usually did and was just about to think about if he was going to take the bus or run to school when he, by accident, bumped into someone’s back. “I’m sorry,” he quickly apologized since he really hadn’t seen them before it was too late.
“No, I…” the other teenager said and turned around and stared at Yugi. He seemed to be around the same age as Yugi, maybe a bit older. He has two shades of brown in his short, messy hair and kind brown eyes. Like Yugi, he wore a school uniform, but it was red with white and black embroidery on it. “You’re Yugi!”
Yugi blinked, surprised. “You know me?” he kept forgetting he was famous now.
The other teenager nodded wide-eyed. “The ultimate duelist, waiting for me…” Yugi made a confused noise when the other teenager mumbled, “Can it be?” he checked his pocket fis, hung up a card, and looked at it. “I got this card from you. It led me to you,” he showed Yugi the card.
Yugi looked at it and frowned, confused. “I gave that card to you? Winged Kuriboh?” Yugi tried to recall if he ever owed a Winged Kuriboh. Still, he had only owned a Kuriboh without wings and was a dark attribute monster. The other teenager wasn’t recognizable to him either. This was the first time he had ever seen him. Yugi pulls out his own Kuriboh card. “It looks a lot like Kuriboh. But I don’t remember giving it to you.”
The other teenager didn’t seem to mind that fact. Apparently, he knew something Yugi didn’t. Yugi suddenly remembered his odd dream, and he couldn’t help but smile at the coincidence. “Have you come here to duel me?” the other teenager looked surprised at him, and Yugi explained, “Last night, I had a dream. Kuriboh spoke to me during my dream. He normally doesn’t do that, but this time, he said a duelist would come to me and that I had to fight that duelist. Are you that duelist?”
The other teenager blinked once, and then his whole face cracked into an excited grin. “Absolutely, Yugi!” He bowed, which Yugi was a little surprised about, but said nothing about it.
“Come with me, I know a perfect place for us to duel.” Yugi smiled and waved the other teenager with him. “I don’t think I ever got your name.”
“Oh, right! I forgot to introduce myself.” he grinned, embarrassed, with his arm behind the back of his neck, “My name is Jaiden Yuki.”
“Nice to meet you, Jaiden.”

Téa walked quietly beside Yugi. The silence was deafening between them, but every time she tried to think about something to say, it disappeared before she could voice it.
She didn’t know what to say, really. It seems like Yugi was in the same boat as her.
They quietly followed Gekko Tenma, who was leading them through the building.
“Yako and I were orphans. Master Pegasus was kind enough to adopt us unofficially. He found us here in Japan during one of his travels. He trained us to be brilliant duelists and card designers. Now that I look back, I wonder if Master Pegasus was training us to be his successor since he had no children of his own. “he led them over to some excavators, and he stepped on the only one working. Yugi followed him with Téa slightly floating beside him “before Master Pegasus was… almost killed, Yako was gently and quiet. People tended to see him as weak. But when Master Pegasus was found more dead than alive, he shut himself up in his room and threw himself into a… disturbing area of research.”
“A disturbing area of research?” Yugi asked. It was the first word he had said for over 15 minutes.
Gekko looks back at him over his shoulder. “The mystic science system. Powers that have no purpose being forgotten by mankind.” he looks away. “in the course of his research, Yako created cards from data master Pegasus had left behind. Cards of immeasurable strength were granted power equal to that of the Egyptian god cards and cursed as a result. Cards of ill omen, filled with evil intent… Master Pegasus had misgivings about them. The cards had no names. Yako named them the ¨Jashin¨… the Evil Gods. “
Tèa and Yugi freeze, which Gekko might not have felt since he had continued.
“The curse of the evil gods damaged my brother’s already fragile psyche… and now he’s devoted himself to this wicked project. A project to produce master Pegasus’s avatar using Téa Gardner’s soul as a trade for his soul. The ¨rebirth of Avatar¨ project. He was giving an object with Master Pegasu’s soul inside, but with no way of reversing the transfer; he meant it was possible to use another soul as a trade. The body will be used as a repair tool for any internal damage his body has gotten over the trauma we found him with… it is not a pretty sight...” Téa suddenly felt sick and cold, so she hugged her arms. Yugi looked concerned at her. Gekko stepped up the excavator and looks back at them “still, as long as Miss Gardner soul still exists, we should be able to return her back to normal, but we don’t have much time to spare.”
Téa and Yugi take a sigh of relief simultaneously.
“Wait a minute! Why does Téa have to be the trade?” Yugi asked,
Gekko hesitated uncomfortably long. He turns his face away from them. “According to Yako, the tribute must fulfill three conditions. First, they must be physically and mentally healthy. Second, they must not be a warrior at heart. Or duelist in your case.” Both Téa slightly protested, and Gekko stopped with a gently raised hand and explained, “High-ranking duelists have a fighting instinct. They are too strong as a tribute because they will fight the procedure. I do not say Miss Gardner is not a fighter, but if you got the choice, would you pick a sword up instead of using your words?” Téa bit her lips. They all knew she would rather speak her way out of trouble. She has power through her words, and it has worked a lot of the time. So no, she wouldn’t pick up a sword if she could avoid it.
Gekko nodded and said, “And finally...it must be someone whose death will inflict pain on Yugi Mutou.” Téa and Yugi looked shocked at him and then at each other. Gekko was looking at her. “and that, Miss Gardner, is why you were chosen. There were others in your friend group who fit the first two points, but we both know why you will inflict the most pain.”
Téa lowers her head. She felt sick that Yako was using her to hurt Yugi. It’s because I’ve known him the longest… it’s because I love him… “But why…” she raised her head. She grew angry just by thinking about it. “Why does your brother want revenge on Yugi? It isn’t Yugi’s fault that Pegasus’ soul was taken from him, and you know it!”
Gekko hesitated again. “Someone came to Yako… he informed him that he had witnessed a certain incident in the castle at the Duelist Kingdom. ” he looked hard at them. Téa would call it accurately: “he said he had seen Yugi Mutou take master Pegasus’s Millennium eye and kill him.”
“Th-that can’t be… ” Téa said, shocked. There was no way that was true. Yugi was with the rest of the gang all the time.
“Who… who said that?! ” Yugi demanded to know.
“One of the finalists in the duelist Kingdom tournament… Keith Howard. ” Gekko said.

“What’s up with that?” Téa asked, curious. It was after school, and students were walking out of the school grounds to either go home or spend time with their friends. She noted there was a lot more running and loud talking about something than usual. She didn’t catch what it was about.
“What? People running out of school? Pretty normal if you ask me. ” Joey said. He was leaning up against some lockers while waiting for the rest of them to get their shoes on. They were going to Yugi’s place to do some homework together. Maybe also playing that video game Yugi has talked about lately with Joey.
Tristan looked at yet another runner with narrowed eyes and crossed arms. “No, something is up. I can feel it.”
“The only feeling you’re feeling is the change of seasons. ” Duke piped up while he closed his locker.
“It is getting kinda chilly. ” Ryou hummed and looked outside, where they all could see the leaves had begun to change color. It wouldn’t be long before they fell off the trees.
With all of them having their shoes on, they left the school. Before they could speak about something else, three more runners came past them. Téa and Yugi stop up, which makes the rest of the gang stop, too. They looked after the people and saw a large group blocking the gate out of the school grounds.
“Hm. wonder what all the commotion is about, ” Téa asked while she looked at the groub. She wondered why they just didn’t leave.
“Don’t know. But I haven’t seen this many people running from school since they served meatloaf surprise last year. ” Joey joked, and he began walking towards the group.
“Ugh, don’t remind me. ” Téa nearly gagged.
“Hey, don’t dis an American dish, you guys, ” Duke said in an almost offended tone.
“It originates from German, ” Ryou said. Duke groaned at the white-haired teenager’s correction, which Ryou ignored, and he pouted, “And I like meatloaf...”
“Not when they are made at school, you don’t, ” Joey said.
“Why are people not moving? ” Duke asked when they came over to the group. He walked around them to see if he could see what was going on.
Joey, Tristan, Ryou, and Téa looked over the group to see what was going on.
“What in the…?” Joey said
“Huh? ” Ryou said.
Téa blinked, confused. There was a bunch of people of all ages on the other side of the school's entrance. The Domino students didn’t move away because some of those people didn’t look like a nice bunch.
“Let me see, ” Yugi said behind her. He was jumping up and down to see over the other’s shoulders.
“Wonder who these guys are all waiting for? ” Joey asked
Téa shrugged, and Ryou made an “I don’t know ” noise.
Yugi grew tired of not seeing what the others did and pushed past Joey and Ryou. Téa stepped away to give him space. Yugi managed to push himself in front of the crowd to look around.
“It’s him! ” the biggest and meanest-looking of the other group yelled and pointed at Yugi. He also seemed to be one of the oldest, with a black jacket over his muscular body and sunglasses to hide his eyes. Yugi froze when he realized the buff man was pointing at him.
“Told you he’s a lot smaller than on TV!”
Then, all hell broke loose. The waiting group ran over to Domino students and barreled into them like two oceans meeting each other.
“Me first. Let me at him!” “Hey! Stop pushing!” “Please just give me one shot at those God Cards!” “Get them away; they are crushing me!” “Get out of my way! If anyone gets the God Cards, it’s me!” “Go away. You are stepping on my foot!” Yelling on both sides was deafening, and Téa felt like a sardine in a can. Students and people from outside the school are piling on each other. Yelling, pushing, and more people coming to see what was going on on both sides made it impossible to move or even breathe.
“What is all of this?!” Duke yelled from somewhere to the left.
“Guys, get out of there!” Ryou yelled. Téa heard him yelp in pain, and she hoped he didn’t get too hurt in this mindless scuffle.
“Help me!” Yugi yelled while people from both sides crushed him. Joey and Tristan are trying to push people away from Yugi, but it is a losing battle with all the pushing and shoving.
Téa grabbed Yugi and pulled him down to the ground where there was more breathing room. They still have to be careful of not being stepped on or getting a knee in the jaw. “What's going on with these guys?!” Téa yelled over the yelling.
“Life on the top, Téa. Everyone knows Yugi is the best duelist around. So they all want a piece of him and those God Cards.” Tristan told her stained while he kept pushing people away from Yugi. It was like a tidal wave of bodies.
“Téa, try to sneak Yugi around the back while we hold them off,” Joey tells her over his shoulder. He seems ready to deck someone.
“You're sure?” Téa asked.
“Yeah, Tristan and I will handle things here.” Joey smirk
“Thanks, Joey.” Yugi smiled, relieved.
“You can thank him later. Let's go, Yugi.” Téa said sternly and grabbed him by his school back and dragged him out of the crowd backways. It was the easier route. She gets up and pulls Yugi with her until he is able to turn around and run beside her. They quickly ran past Duke, who kept an opening for them so they could leave the school grounds and hide nearby.

Does anyone know if these monsters have an actual name? I know Exodia(who doesn't?), Magician of Illusion, and Spiria. The rest, I don't, and I don't know how to find out if they are based on Yugioh cards or not. I am trying to make a fic about the Millennium world arch, but I would like to know if they have official names before I give them some names.

Seto and Yugi are cousins headcanon
I have seen this headcanon flowing around, and I wanted to share my thoughts about it. I do think this headcanon is possible, and I like it since it reflects/mirrors what happened in the past. I just find it interesting what you could play around with if Seto ever realizes he is related to his rival. Some interesting concepts can be pulled out of it. I have made some bullet points with what I could think of to make this headcanon possible. Forgive me if it is a bit rambling, or the Gramma is all over the place. Mama Mutou is the biological daughter of Sugoroku/Solomon. - This will create some family drama already. That means that Grandpa was aware of Seto and Mokuba, OR he had a fallout with another daughter of his(have to be another daughter due to the last name change. can't make it too easy for Seto and Mokuba, now can we?). But how did this fallout happen? Married the wrong guy? Did she run away with said guy? or is Grandpa not a good father? Something to think about.
Mama Mutou has a sister. - This means that she is the one married into the Mutou family. It also means that the Mutou family will not interact a lot with her side of the family if she has beef with her family. Mama Mutou's family is unknown. It is possible for her to have a sister or a brother who married Seto and Mokuba's mother/father. With Mama Mutou changing her name when she married Father Mutou, there is already a change there, which makes it a bit harder to realize that Yugi and Seto are cousins. It would be easy to make Mama Mutou have a bad relationship with her family, and she has possibly never met Seto when he was young, so that is the reason why it was never mentioned.
However, it has been mentioned multiple times that Seto and Mokuba's relatives were nasty. They took everything away from them and threw them into an orphanage. That could make Mama Mutou one of those nasty people, or, as I mentioned before, she stayed far away from her family because they were not good people. She might not even have known her sister/brother had kids because she had no contact with them. No contact would happen if Mama Mutou is either younger or older than one of Seto's parents. Most likely, Mama Mutou was the baby and simply didn't know how to contact her older sibling when she also bailed from her parent's house. When the age difference is too great, it is harder for siblings to connect with each other, so this is also a possibility. Mama Mutou does need to stay in very low contact with her sibling to ensure she is not aware of what happened to Seto and Mokuba. If she did have a great relationship with her (older?) siblings, she would have tried to take Seto and Mokuba with her or at least visited them. The contact with her family has to be limited to make this happen.
Father Mutou himself. - He is going to be his category for reasons. If he was biologically related to Grandpa, that meant pretty much the same drama as I mentioned in Mama Mutou being related to the Mutou family. That Grandpa had a bad relationship with his daughter for one reason or another. With Father Mutou never being seen, it is possible that he died(or he is just an absent father?) in the same accident as his sister since it was never mentioned how the Kaiba brother's mom died, just that she died first. But then again, Grandpa should be aware of Seto and Mokuba. Either way, it makes Grandpa not shine in the best light.
Making Father Mutou not related to Grandpa is a whole other can of worms because Yugi and Sugoroku/Solomon share a last name. This could be done out of laziness, but I highly doubt that(look at Joey/Katsuya Jonouchi and Serenity/Shizuka Kawai; they do not share last names in the Japanese version). So Father Mutou pretty much has to be related to Grandpa in my eyes to ensure Yugi and Grandpa share the last name.
Sugoroku/Solomon have a secret child. - This one will not surprise me either. We see that Grandpa was pretty smooth, confident, and nicely dressed in his younger years. He can have a child(gender doesn't matter in this case), which he didn't know about. The child will not have his last name, and this is the time before the DNA kit so that they wouldn't have found each other either. This does make Yugi and Seto Half-cousin, but they will still be related, and being a child from a summer fling/one-night stand will be the reason why Grandpa is not a way of his second child exciting, and Seto and Mokuba are related to him. Grandpa could also have been cheating, but that is more how much you want Grandpa to be a scumbag in his younger years.
Unknown grandma had a second child. - This one is more out there. We only know very little of her besides how Grandpa asked her out(with a puzzle with words written on it. mentioned in the manga), so it might be possible she had a child from a former marriage, but here come some problems again. Grandpa should be aware of this child and potential grandchildren. The only way this could work is if the son/daughter of his wife hated Sugoroku/Solomon with a passion and didn't want anything to do with him. This could explain why Grandpa didn't reach out to them after his wife's death and the nasty family Seto and Mokuba had to deal with. The problem with this is that Seto and Yugi will once again be half-cousins, but I don't think that matters in the long run.
Feel free to tell me more ideas in the comments.

Time to see how far I really come. Joey thought to himself while he waited on the road between Ryou’s home and Yugi’s. It was the perfect spot to meet. No cars to interrupt them, and it was still early enough that they didn’t have to think much about other people.
Joey knew he had come far in such a short time. He starts out as a bully who nearly gets beaten into a coma by Tetsu Trudge. But that fateful day, he was saved by none other than Yugi, who he had been pretty mean to the day before, how that day sealed their friendship.
Joey remembered how he risked everything to go with Yugi to Duelist Kingdom and get the money for his sister, even if he had never dueled against a strong opponent in his life. He remembered the day when he saved Yugi from the fire. Where he almost has to leave the Millennium puzzle behind to save Yugi. It also marked the day when they were aware of a new enemy in Domino City, which would lead up to the day when Joey lost his Red-eyes black dragon. It led to the promise he made with Yami that one day, they would duel each other when Joey felt like he was a true duelist. He earned his place to be on top with the rest of them. And he earned the place to challenge Yugi to a duel to get his Red-Eyes black dragon back.
The dragon saved him more than once. He saved him under that Lion guy’s sick games and when he was brainwashed by Malik. He was sure his beloved dragon was more than ready to get back to him.
Joey looks up and sees Yugi come walking towards him. He returned Joey’s look before he grabbed his jacket and pulled it off to fling it around his neck like a cape.
Yami smiled at him when they stood face to face. “You’re early, my friend.”
“Heh.” Joey chuckled and lifted his newly built deck. “It was morning when I finished my deck.”
“Same here.” Yami shows his own deck. Joey knew remembering how he dueled through the Battle City tournament would not help him here. Like him, Yami and Yugi have personally built their deck for his challenges. “we made it, Joey, but there is still one thing left to do. I still have something of yours.”
“Yup. And it’s time for me to earn it back, pal” Joey smiled. The sun rose above the buildings behind him, casting the first light over Joey and then at Yami. “Let’s do this; our Battle City isn’t over yet.”
“You’re on.” Yami smiled and readied his duel disk. He stood taller than ever before. Almost like looking at the king he was.
Of all the battles I have been through in this tournament. This one means the most. Joey thought and readied his duel disk. This was it. “You better watch out. You taught me everything I know about dueling.”
“Almost everything.”
Joey laughed at that.
“Let’s duel!” they both yelled, and their long-awaited battle began.

What happened when you put Yami Malik and Yami Bakura in the same room?
You either got a murder, a shadow game, or a 100% risk of world domination.
It's a good thing either of these two psychopaths is good at working with other people. The world and the people they hate would have been in more trouble than they already are. (I also saw that this ship is called Trashshipping. It's funny, but do not fit them well.)

This one is a bit... funny for me.
There is no denying that Téa and Miho are friends. They are not best friends since I think it is more because they are the same gender. Téa works hard to get to her wants and dreams. She doesn't let anyone else tell her what she can't or cannot do. It makes a lot of students look up to her, and since she has most of her male friends, she is also quick to put people back if they try to insult her. She can come across as scary at times because of her strong-willed personality.
Miho is more of a girly girl. She is soft-spoken and can come off as airheaded, but that is only because she follows her own rules in life. in some way, she is a little like Téa; she knows what she wants and pressures herself to get it, but unlike Téa, she likes it when her needs are given to her in the form of gifts, coins, and presents. She knows she can get those things because she is cute and very charismatic.
Miho and Téa have things they want, and they get in different ways. Téa is not always impressed with how Miho gets her things, but I think she is also impressed. Miho respects Téa for being such a strong girl as she is. She also knows not to piss off Téa because she will tell her off. They are good school friends, and they might even hang out after school. It all depends on who you are asking.

This is something I have noted between the two of them.
In the manga, Duke and Serenity have no conversation with each other as far as I can remember. Duke has no interest in her at all in the manga, and I only think Serenity looks at Duke when he says something to the others. You know, to be polite.
in the anime, it is another story.
Duke is constantly flirting with Serenity, especially when Tristan is around. I think he does it to get under Tristan's skin or something similar. By looking at Serenity's reactions to his flirting, I can say she is... imitating might not be the correct word, but I do think she doesn't see Duke as a love interest. He might be too pushy for her taste.
I do think she sees him as a friend she can cheer on when he drops the flirting. She does show gratitude for him when he protects her or speaks well about her brother. (look, anyone speaking about Joey is her friend). It is hard to say what those two see their relationship as, but I honestly don't think there is more than friendship or companionship going on between them.

Chapters: 47/? Fandom: Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters (Anime & Manga) Rating: Mature Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence Characters: Mutou Yuugi, Yami Yuugi, Mazaki Anzu | Tea Gardner, Jounouchi Katsuya | Joey Wheeler, Honda Hiroto | Tristan Taylor, Nosaka Miho, Kaiba Seto, Bakura Ryou, Yami Bakura, Otogi Ryuuji | Duke Devlin, Mutou Sugoroku | Solomon Moto, Mutou Yuugi's Mother, Mutou Yuugi's Father, Kawai Shizuka | Serenity Wheeler, Marik Ishtar, Kujaku Mai | Mai Valentine, Rishid Ishtar | Odion Ishtar, Ishizu Ishtar, Original Characters Additional Tags: Other Additional Tags to Be Added, amalgamation of manga and all anime, Canon-Typical Violence, Canon Universe, Canon Rewrite, Canonical Character Death, Slow Burn, Near Death Experiences, Character Death, Urban Fantasy, Mythical Beings & Creatures Series: Part 7 of Rise the Sun Summary:
On the top of the tower, Obelisk smashed his fist right through Slifer’s mouth. When Yami gets more cards in hand, Slifer retaliates by readying a Thunder Force attack. With Obelisk’s fist trapped in the flesh and jawbone of the dragon, he can’t escape. Kaiba uses Time Shaver to weaken Slifer, and his God beast punches his second fist through the dragon’s jaw and the top of its head.
The two gods are in a stalemate; they are equally strong.
Light began to come from the wounds of both monsters. None of them backed down, and the more they fought, the stronger the light got.
All Yami and Kaiba could do was watch their monsters disappear into a bright light that engulfed everything on the island.
Malik stared, confused, at his Millennium rod when it glowed up, too. Every single Millennium item on the island or hidden away in Japan glowed up.
Yami and Kaiba fell into a vortex of light and a world of ruins. Every building was destroyed, and the world was shrouded in darkness. Yami swore he saw something big on the horizon, but he and Kaiba fell once again, and they hung upside down in what looked like an underground palace.
They saw people. At least ten, but it was the two people standing in front of each other that caught both of their attention.
It was them . But not entirely with their ancient clothing and wrong skin color but there was no denying that these people were almost a perfect copy of them both.
The other Kaiba chuckled to himself. It sounded hollow and hateful.
“The palace has collapsed… you have nothing left, and now you are a naked ruler. Your once prosperous kingdom is nothing more than rumble. It’s only a matter of time before this land is no more. ” Yami’s other stood in the shadows. It was challenging to say what he was thinking.
“The High Priest of darkness conquered heaven and earth with the power he was granted from the Dark One. Your divine right… your Millennium items were worthless against the power of darkness. And I… ” he stepped closer to the other with his hand on his chest, “I am also your enemy. Now and forever. With my Millennium rod and my dragon-“his voice cracked for a second. He closed his eyes before he opened again with a newfound hatred. Whatever happened to him, he took it very personally.
“Then tell me this. ” the other Yami asked slowly. Yami was shocked to hear him speak because it was his voice but deeper. He pointed accursedly at the other Kaiba. “Why have you chosen their side over mine?”
“That is where you are wrong! I have no alliance with the Dark One. not after what his Priest did! ” the other Kaiba shouted and raised the Millennium rod up to his eyes, “I’ll say it again. I will never side with you, but neither will my pride allow me to surrender to the Dark being either. All I want is one thing… to defeat you with my own hands!”
Other Yami steps forward. His face was still cast in shadow, but you could still see he was glaring. Yami also noted that around his neck hung his Millennium puzzle. A robe held it, and not a chain like his was. “Everything we have been through. Everything happened to the both of us. ” He said with a voice shaking with emotion. It was hard to tell what emotion it was because he hid well what he felt at the moment, “you want it to end like this? Fighting each other instead of finding a way to “
“This fight is unavoidable! ” the other Kaiba snapped. “My dragon whose roar shakes the heavens will wipe out your magician once and for all. ” the tablet behind the other Seto is raised up in a vertical position. The image of the blue-eyes white dragon was visible.
“That… that is my Blue-eyes. ” Kaiba gasped.
“Even in my darkest hour, I will defeat you! ” the other Yami shouted, and a stone stable behind him was also raised, “I summon my faithful magician who rests inside the Weju! ” The picture behind him is familiar to Yami.
“Dark Magician! ” Yami gasped.
The stone tablet glows up in the same glow as the Millennium items, and out from the stones appears the whitest Blue-eyes white dragon Kaiba has ever seen. Yami has seen a blue-eyes white dragon similar to this one. The other tablet appeared as a Dark Magician. To Yami’s shock, do not look like his Dark Magician; his armor was too white and golden, and his skin and hair color were just as dark as the two fighters with his rich brown hair. Yami knew he was the same Dark Magician even if his attribute used to be light.
The two stone tablet monsters stood over each other with the two fighters under them with reached-out hands, and they yelled something none of them could hear.
The scene. The monsters. All of this was a perfect recreation of what was depicted on the stone tablet.
This scene… is this part of my lost memories?

(this is a ramble. Sorry if it is all over the place) Part of me wonder. How will Marik ever ask for forgiveness from Yugi's friends? Can he ever look them in the eyes? Will he hide away out of pure guilt and will only see them again on the day of the ceremonial duel?
How will Joey, Mai, and the rest of them react to him? Will they forgive him? Will they tell Marik to make himself better and DO good in the world and to himself in between Battle City and the last part of the Manga/anime? They do seem happy to see Ishtar in the manga, so it is possible that they have talked, but we never get to see it.
how can they forgive him? Would that ever be possible? Yugi is a forgiving person, but what about the rest? Joey will forgive but never forget. He will keep Marik accountable for his past sins, just as Joey is with his own past. Their sins are not the same, but they both know the sins of their fathers.
Téa would demand him to be better. to do better and never stop. She knows you have to work hard to get the things you want in life, so she would not expect anything less from Marik.
I don't know about the rest.
can Marik ever forgive himself?

“Hey, check this out. Here is something we can do, Yugi. I brought some magazines with some touristy stuff, like Domino Walker or the Domino Pier.”
“Huh?” Yugi blinked and looked as owlish as Téa. She gave him a look while she held a few magazines in her hand. Yugi smiled, embarrassed, and moved away from the window he had been looking through, “Oh right, sorry. Lost in thoughts.”
“What were you thinking about?” Téa asked with an amused smile.
Yugi quickly pulled his cola closer to him and took a sip of it in the hope that Téa didn’t see his embarrassed blush. “Just… you know... things.” In reality. His mind has gone blank for some dumb reason.
“Alright. Just things it is.” Téa said with a teasing undertone. She didn’t push the subject and instead took her own soda to drink. “I love your accessories. Did you make that shirt?” Yugi looked down at his shirt and smiled; it was actually an attempt from his grandfather to make T-shirts for Yugi’s ‘fans’; it flopped terribly. At least Yugi got some cool new shirts out of it. Téa blinked and made a confused noise. “Wow, I just got a huge sense of Déjà vu.”
“Déjà vu?” Yugi asked concerned.
“You know. When you feel like you have said or done something before. Like all of this-“ Téa gestured to the coffee shop they were inside. “it feels familiar.”
“It feels new to me,” Yugi admitted. He glances down at his accessory on his arms with a frown. “I do remember putting this on. And I remember we should be meeting at the train station.”
“Yeah. You’re right. Maybe I’m only imagining things.” Téa said and leaned back in her chair. Yugi glanced around once again, just to be sure nothing was wrong, but everything seemed okay. The sun was shining outside. People around them were laughing, and- Yugi felt his face heat up when he realized this was actually a date. Téa luckily didn’t notice and picked up the magazines instead. “so, where should we go?”
Yugi has to take a new sip of his soda to calm himself. He ended up making a fool out of himself instead when he choked on it.
-
They ended up going through the city and down to Domino Dock since one of the magazines said there were whales seen near Domino City. Yugi had never seen a real whale before, so he hoped they could catch one before they went to the arcade to have some fun there. They did see some of the whales, and they also saw one of them jump. It was a magnificent sight.
“You know you said you got the sense of déjà vu inside the coffee shop?” Yugi said while they walked the harbor. He glanced at the old Marine bridge out in the water. It looked like the underwater bell was to be repaired. “I get the feeling of it now. It feels like I have been here before.” For some reason, he got that feeling he had been out on the Marine platform even though civilians were not allowed to be out there due to the dept.
“It was here the ship to the Duelist Kingdom was.” Téa hummed and pointed at some of the ships nearby.
“Yeah. That must be it.” Yugi nodded in agreement and looked away from the marine bridge. They walked away from the harbor and into the city again. They ended up sitting on a bench to rest their feet. The bench was looking over the fountain nearby. Yugi couldn’t help but swing his legs, giddy that he was here with Téa. It was different than hanging out with her and the rest of the group of friends. “I’m glad you wanted to say yes to going out with me.”
“Wait.” Téa turned her face away from the fountain and stared confused at him, “I asked you out, remember?”
Yugi blinked, confused. “No… I’m pretty sure I asked you out.”
They both stared at each other before they turned away to think.
“That’s weird. We can’t both be right.” Téa said, looking down at her hands as if she expected them to have the answer.
“Something… is off,” Yugi said. He looked around and tried to pinpoint what was off, but he couldn’t put a finger on it, “everything feels right, but…”
“You also get the feeling that you want all of this to be right. To be perfect? I mean, today was perfect; I really enjoyed our day together.” Téa quickly added when Yugi looked at her.
“Yeah… this is perfect.” Yugi agreed slowly. Being on a date with Téa was like a dream come true. They both sat in silence to try to figure out what was going on before they both ended up shrugging and continuing their date.
They were about to enter the arcade when-
“Yugi! Yugi!”
“Huh?” Yugi turned around to figure out where the voice was coming from. It sounded so familiar to him, but… how?
“This isn’t real! You have to wake up!”
Yugi’s eyes widened when he realized what was amiss, and his hand flew down to his chest. There was nothing there. He looked at Téa, who had the exact same look. They both realized what was wrong with this place.

Chapters: 45/? Fandom: Yu-Gi-Oh! “This is the game! Be careful, guys!” Yugi shouted and looked up. “another cube is coming!”
More and more deadly cubes fell down from the floor. There was only one second between each drop, and they were like ants trying to run away from being stepped on. None of them can tell where the next cube is going to fall. All they can do is run around dodging.
“This is like dancing with death!” Duke yelled and wiped his forehead from sweat.
“There’s no place left to run!” Joey jumped away again.
“Everyone climbs on top of the cubes!” Yugi yelled. “the point of the game is to get to the exit!”
“Keep away from the edges of the room! you get boxed in, you’re dead!” Duke shouted and pulled Téa with him away when they were nearly hit.
Joey has to pull his sister away from a falling cube “Crap. At this rate, we’re going to be flattened. How do we get out of this?!”
Téa heard the click again and again, and she suddenly realized. “Hold on! There’s a rhythm to the timing of them falling. Maybe there’s some rule to where they fall as well.” She closed her eyes and let Tristan and Yugi help her to dodge while she listened.
Duke asked. “How do you know-“
“I get it. Téa wants to be a dancer. She got a talent for reading rhythms.” Yugi smiled.
She heard it. She knew what was going on.
“There!” she pointed at a place, and the cube fell there a second later. “That’s awesome, Téa! now we know where the next cube would fall.” Serenity cheered.
“If the timing of the falling cubes is rhythm and the places where they fall are the steps of a dance,” Téa said, pointing at the places where they should avoid. “Then it’s like the cubes are following a simple dance.”
“I get it. The mechanism of this game is too big for the computer program controlling it to be too complex. They had to keep it simple.” Yugi smiled, and he quickly climbed onto a safe cube.
“So the cubes only know easy dance,” Joey said, helping his sister up on another cube.
“Alright. All we have to do is stay light on our feet. Like dancers.” Duke said.
“And get it to the hidden exit. This game is easy if you know where the cubes are going to fall.” Tristan said. He jumped away from a dangerous place, which Téa pointed out.
“I am at the exit,” Joey yelled. One of his hands was just gone. He quickly helped his sister through it before he jumped through it himself.
With them messing with the illusion. It looked more like they were sticking their heads through colored water than a wall.
Téa was the next to get in there. Joey pulled her up the rest of the way. She then heard it. Huh? The rhythm changed? It has gotten faster. Too fast! She quickly stuck her head out of the exit and yelled, “Duke! Look out!”
Duke stood on top of a dangerous cube. He made the fatal mistake of looking up. Tristan grabbed him by the legs and tossed him off. The cube hit the point, and Tristan was near it.
“Tristan! Are you all right?” Serenity called out to him.
“Phew. That was close.” Tristan smiled in relief. He has his back on it. “sorry about tossing you like that.”
“I survive,” Duke said and got up. He looked grateful for the save. He quickly gets into the exit.
“Be careful; the rhythm is getting faster,” Téa warned them.
“All right. Let’s move.” Tristan said. He freezes and looks panicking at Yugi. “Yugi! Give me your hand. Quickly!”
“You go first, Tristan,” Yugi said, out of breath.
“Just give me your hand before the cubes block the exit!” Tristan grabbed his hand and pulled him up like he was a ragdoll. “Joey, Take him!”
Joey quickly pulls Yugi in with them. Only leaving Tristan as the last person inside.
“What are you waiting for?” Duke yelled to him.
Tristan smiled, sorry to them. He didn’t move. “Sorry, guy…this is as far as I go.”
It was then that Téa and the others realized… his jacket was stuck between the block that nearly hit Duke. He could struggle out of it, but… There was no more time.
“T-Tristan!” Duke yelled, horrified when he realized what had happened.
“So long, guy.” Tristan gives them a thumbs up. The entrance was closed off by one last cube. Leaving Tristan behind.
“Tristan!”
“TRISTAAN!” Joey yelled after his oldest friend.

They are Partners by opportunity, and they are manipulating the heck out of each other. They needed each other to get what they wanted. Marik was a way to get into the friend group so he could easily attack them and had a backup plan with Bakura on his side. Bakura wanted the Millennium rod Malik held, but he also knew he held some other secrets about the Pharaoh, so he knew it was best to keep his new little friend close.
I liked the idea that Marik have a thing for Bakura(appearance-wise), and Bakura noticed that and absolutely used that against him, which is why Marik went to him when he lost his body.
They are both manipulative and a thief who took something from the Pharaoh or his people. Oh yeah, they also hated the Pharaoh. They are very similar to each other, that is why pulled them towards each other. I let other people decide if that is a good thing or not.

Minor headcanon again that Tristan and Joey help Ryou when his fan club gets too much. He is very bad at telling people to stop admiring him.
Joey finds it hilarious, and Tristan helps Ryou out because that is what friends do. I do think Tristan is a bit envious over all the attention Ryou gets since we do know he doesn't have the world's best track record with his crushes, and no matter what he does for them, they don't really see him, while Ryou has girls tossing themselves at him. (Joey used to be jealous, too; now he just finds it funny and a little annoying the girls don't want to leave Ryou alone)
Ryou and Tristan are good friends. Tristan would protect Ryou as well as he can from his fan club or from the Spirit inside the Millennium ring(he is the only one who can speak with Yami-Bakura without major consequences). In return, Ryou helps him out with his homework or some of the school chores because he likes to hang out with his friends.

It is a bit of my own headcanon that Ryou is a bit envious of Joey for still having his own sister, but instead of wallowing in his own sorrows, he treats Serenity as his own little sister. Joey 100% encourages this since, unlike Duke and Tristan, Ryou doesn't try to date her. Ryou even managed to have Joey do more 'girly' things, such as watching slice-of-life movies or making dandelions into crowns.
Joey and Ryou's friendship is literally an extrovert meeting an introvert, but they still make it work since they do have a few things in common, such as being older brothers, loving food, and dying for their friends. Joey is not that fond of Ryou's hobbies of loving the occult, but besides complaining about it, it has come in handy to know what they are up against. also, Joey found out he likes TTRPG just as much as Ryou, so if they don't talk about duel monsters (those two also duel against each other in friendly battles when Yugi is busy), they have exciting talks about new roleplaying games and adventures.
