Creators!!! Well, this is day 30 of Explorers’ Emporium’s “10 Minute YouTube Viewers Experiment”:
https://youtu.be/rAHQfDeY07s .
We did add another 5000 views but Average View Duration decreased from 2:51 down to 1:35 on a 10+ minute video. This was enough to add another 90 hours to our watch time. We also showed a 15% increase in NOT Subscribed viewers- total 88.5%. This a great knowing the video was introduced to new people, but Subscribed viewers do watch longer. We also had 90.2% of our viewers come from the United Kingdom. Only 7.4% watch from the United States. Interesting. 83.2% of our viewers were male. I did find it interesting that the age demographics wound up being about the same as all our videos- definitely over the age of 35 are my group with 65+ being the most.
I would say that in the end, getting subscribers plays a powerful key to being successful. People that are subscribed are more genuinely interested in your videos and watch longer. Because Explorers Emporium chooses to make videos that are CREATIVE, ENTERTAINING and FUN- and avoid main stream videos- SUBSCRIBERS will be the way to go. It is like having a retail store selling things you like, not what sales. You must accept how business will be. You can advertise on YouTube to focus on gaining subscribers. We advertised this video to gain views. We will try to do another promotion focusing on Subscribers in a couple weeks. Thank you for reading and watching.

20240803 10 Minute YouTube Viewers Experiment
Greetings Creators!!! So, here we are on day 20 of our “10 Minute YouTube Viewer Experiment”: https://youtu.be/rAHQfDeY07s?si=EY8c6_KSS4HdUDcg . We have officially launched (6 days ago) a $200/ 2 Week advertisement to get VIEWERS through the YouTube system.
As expected the numbers went crazy. First thing was we went from 100% LIKES and got 6 DISLIKES on the first day. This is where YouTube’s algorithm is trying to figure out who to submit the video to. Since the first day- no more Dislikes and LIKES quadrupled.
We also went from an AVERAGE VIEW DURATION of 18:03 to 2:51, ouch. Also, AVERAGE PERCENTAGE VIEWED dropped from 171.2% to 27.1%. Where FRIENDS and SUBSCRIBERS would watch a couple times through, only 27% would watch video end to end (still pretty good for this type of video).
We went from 110 views to 2376 view. But, public watch hours only went from 38.8 to 103.4. There seems to be a major advantage in building your SUBSCRIBER base- the AVERAGE VIEW DURATION makes a big difference. This was interesting… 74.3% of our views are in the United Kingdom, only 18.0% are in United States (Thank you United Kingdom). We are in the United States.
Be sure to look at the “AGE and GENDER” chart at the bottom. The chart on the LEFT is our normal channels demographics. The chart on the RIGHT is specifically for this video. BIG difference. Thank you for watching.

Green Screen Uses in YouTube
We have all seen the amazing uses of Green Screens in Marvel and DC super hero movies. What is truly amazing is how readily available green screens and movie making software has become. Not to mention, computers have really gained in speed and resources for saving large, complex projects.
Here is a FUN video we recently shot using a green screen and a green outfit. We were creating video parts for our Candela Obscura Character Creation series. We hope seeing the process inspires creativity for others. Enjoy!

GoFundMe: Help Explorers’ Emporium
About Our Fundraiser
youtube
Explorers’ Emporium is a small family business who, like so many small businesses, is struggling to make ends meet due to the restrictions place on businesses to keep people safe during the pandemic. We fully support those safe guards and want everyone to stay safe but the latest challenge is a cancellation of an event that has a high financial impact on our store. The cancellation of the February/March 2021 AZ Renaissance, not only impacts the performers and onsite merchants, but unique stores such as our own that supply costumes, LARPing (Live Action Role-Playing) supplies and other entertainment resources for participants of the faire. This event is as important to us as the Christmas shopping season is to many other mainstream merchants. So, we are asking for your help. Whether it is sharing our fundraiser or making a donation, anything would be appreciated! You can visit our project at: https://gofund.me/c328c69d. Thank you so much for any help you can provide! Stay well and stay safe!
