Dover Beach by Matthew Arnold
The sea is calm tonight.
The tide is full, the moon lies fair
Upon the straits; on the French coast the light
Gleams and is gone; the cliffs of England stand,
Glimmering and vast, out in the tranquil bay.
Come to the window, sweet is the night-air!
Only, from the long line of spray
Where the sea meets the moon-blanched land,
Listen! you hear the grating roar
Of pebbles which the waves draw back, and fling,
At their return, up the high strand,
Begin, and cease, and then again begin,
With tremulous cadence slow, and bring
The eternal note of sadness in.
Sophocles long ago
Heard it on the Ægean, and it brought
Into his mind the turbid ebb and flow
Of human misery; we
Find also in the sound a thought,
Hearing it by this distant northern sea.
The Sea of Faith
Was once, too, at the full, and round earth’s shore
Lay like the folds of a bright girdle furled.
But now I only hear
Its melancholy, long, withdrawing roar,
Retreating, to the breath
Of the night-wind, down the vast edges drear
And naked shingles of the world.
Ah, love, let us be true
To one another! for the world, which seems
To lie before us like a land of dreams,
So various, so beautiful, so new,
Hath really neither joy, nor love, nor light,
Nor certitude, nor peace, nor help for pain;
And we are here as on a darkling plain
Swept with confused alarms of struggle and flight,
Where ignorant armies clash by night.

What you shoulda been
What you woulda been
But it ain't no problem now
What's your middle name?
Are you often blamed?
Do you care about the cost?
Da-da-da, da-da-da
Da-da-da, da-da-da
Da-da-da, da
Da-da-da
Where's the middle again?
Can I get back there?
Well, I won't let them talk
Well, it's at it again
And it heads to its home
Do, do, do, do, do, do
On the north end of redded woe
Well, I won't be ready to go
Da-da-da, da-da-da
Da-da-da
A little bit older now
Out in the wilderness
With some valedictorian
You had wagered up your torch
And then you lost your paraffin
Off the dead stump of the trees
Oh, your head it split the crease
And the ghosts you may never know
You will never mend
I will never end
And I went off then
To the meadowlands
Where your mama can't
That's a boundary pass on it
What you woulda been
What you shoulda been died, woo
Well, I'm more than that, well, I'm more than that
Well, I'm more than that, well, I'm more
Well, I'm more than that, well, I'm more than that
Well, I'm more than that, well, I'm more
Well, I'm more than that, well, I'm more than that
Well, I'm more than that, well, I'm more
Well, I'm more than that, well, I'm more than that
Well, I'm more than that, well, I'm more
Here we go
What's that supposed to be, it is over me
All before eleven-thirty
Oh, ah, ooh, ooh
Ah, ah
Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah
Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah
I won't belabor points but I will hit you on the head
I won't belabor points but I will hit it on the head
I won't belabor points but I will hit you on the head
I won't belabor points but I will hit it on the head

Autumn leaves are fallinʼ like the rain
And it falls on me once again
And Iʼm holding on to a letter I send
It comes to me once again
Someoneʼs gonna take my heart
No ones gonna break my heart again
Someoneʼs gonna take my heart
No ones gonna break my heart again
Like a bad dream I had to put it away
Itʼs so hot in the house when Iʼve been here all day
And you helped me when I lost my way
And you showed me how the road bends when I learn to pay
And so this time I think Iʼll stay
Someoneʼs gonna take my heart
No ones gonna break my heart again
Someoneʼs gonna take my heart
No ones gonna break my heart again

I didn't know about those other things.
I could've been there but now it's too late.
We're only here for an hour, and won't know until it's gone.
Try to find the best, I know you.
I didn't know that you would leave so soon.
I would've tried a little harder to make you smile once more.
One day I'll come to find you, wherever you may be.
If only time was kinder, you would still be here.
