The amount of people I've seen saying stuff along the lines of "oh, you voted for Kamala, so you must love genocide?"

Like, are you being serious right now? You think that out of Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, HARRIS is the one that'll get the most people killed? Even if she wasn't working for a ceasefire, Trump is still pro Israel, and also creates a lot of violence towards minorities. Voting for Harris wasn't being pro genocide, it was to keep Trump out of office.

This is why, more than ever, the left needs to get our shit together. Because orange man can say whatever he wants, and not only get away with it, but get support over it. He acknowledged that himself; "I could kill someone on the steps of the Whitehouse and people would still vote for me." (Roughly, I'm not sure if the exact quote.) and he was fucking right because, guess what's people did still vote for him.

Right now, the right are united as fuck, and we don't have that to that level. Get involved in your local punk scene, even if you don't listen to the music, and create a goddamn community because we need to fight our asses off against facism, and we can only do that as a united group.

We need to stop it with the alienation and the gatekeeping bullshit, because we need numbers. Small disagrements don't warrant being kicked out of a community. (Bare in mind I'm talking about SMALL disagreements, not about discrimination.)

#how am I just now hearing about this?

This morning there was a nation-wide text spam campaign targeting Black Americans (largely students) telling them that they’ve been selected to pick cotton and will be picked up to be sent to a plantation after Trump’s inauguration.

People online are making jokes about it, but it’s genuinely a disturbing sign. Someone was emboldened enough to intentionally run a background on thousands of young Black people and send them racist messages the day after a very exhausting and stressful election.

To all the trans people who see this tonight, no matter what happens, we will survive. Trans people will still be here 4 years from now and 10 years from now and 100 years from now and tomorrow. the first thing to understand is you absolutely CANNOT kill yourself about this. that is what these fascists want. it's convenient for them if the opposition self-exterminates. stay alive and fight. it's harder but if everyone gives up then we are truly done for. we need you and we need each other.

If it makes any of you feel better, Donald Trump will have an uphill battle to change the constitution. He will need:

-2/3 of Senators (60)

-2/3 of the House of Representatives (290)

-3/4 of the states (38)

In 2026, 33 senate seats will be up for grabs, and we’ll be able to vote for people who are against Trump and his ideals.

Breathe and remain hopeful because it’s not over. We can still fight and make Trump’s last four years hell.

PUNK PSA:

Please don’t put anything too political on your back patches— especially about your own marginalized experiences.

This has been a long standing rule in punk communities, passed down for generations. People do get jumped and experience violence as a result of this. You can’t see who is behind you, you can’t tell if they’re far right, and you can’t prepare yourself for sudden violence from behind.

So many people are new to the scene, introduced via social media, and don’t know the weight of walking with something on your back (literally and metaphorically) that immediately outs you as marginalized. If you’re able to defend yourself, or out with friends who can watch your back, by all means go for it and wear whatever you want on your back patches but if you walk alone at all ever, please be safe.

Also this is why punks wear spikes and studs on our shoulders especially. Makes it harder for someone to grab you and works as self defense (but also never wear spikes at a small show or if you plan to mosh— people can get hurt!).

reminder that now more than ever, participating in small scale acts of community aid and activism is extremely important. there is a lot you can still do despite shifts in government figures. people feel defeated when certain laws and bills are passed, and certain politicians shuffle in and out of office. it's okay to feel this way, but there is so much we can still do to help each other that isn't illegal and/or you will not be stopped or killed for

participating in food distributions is vital. check to see how your local food bank/s distribute food and how you can help. many churches have food and resource distributions, as well as libraries. libraries in general have amazing resources on top of the books they provide and i highly recommend volunteering at a library when and where possible. it's vital for helping people get resources and apply for government aid when and where possible

see if you can get involved with local groups like Food Not Bombs who distribute free, generally vegan or vegetarian, hot meals to anyone who shows up who is not a cop. preparing meals is easy when a lot of people are participating. you don't have to be able to donate food in order to help with distributing it

check to see if there are safe injection sites in your area. check to see if there are any programs to help homeless substance users get clean needles and sharps disposals. check to see if there are harm reduction events and other outreach programs that provide narcan and other important life saving medications and information

contact your local homeless shelters and see what you can do to get involved with homeless outreach programs for all kinds of people, especially those that fall through the cracks of common programs. see if you can provide or run crowdfunding events for heaters, blankets, food, socks, jackets, hygiene products and other necessities to homeless people in your area.

check to see if there are lgbt spaces in your area and if they need volunteers or anyone to help them. you may be able to help run groups for specific queer groups or attend them and help boost numbers to get those programs more funding. see if you can help give information to queer folk in your community who need resources including but not limited to trans friendly primary care providers, OBGYN services, HRT, surgery, hair removal procedures, and so on. see if it's possible to arrange programs for queer people who need safe transportation

there are a lot more options but if you're feeling down about how things are currently, there are a lot of ways you can help your community with minimal effort much of the time. it doesn't take much at all to help your local community. you'll get help in return by gaining exposure to new resources you weren't familiar with previously. there's a lot we can do for each other

Buying physical copies is always the best option, as they can’t take those away from you. If you need a digital version, it’s best you try and find a free copy or pdf you can download instead of buying it on a kindle or other online book market.

Collect and Share whatever interests you. Queer Theory, Race Theory, Political History, Anti-Facist fiction, anything that catches your eye.

The best way to prepare for a fight against facism is to be knowledgeable.
