It’s Steve, waking up alone in a new century, desperately wishing each time he closes his eyes that he won’t wake back up, just so that he can actually join Bucky.

It’s Steve, kneeling in the dirt in Wakanda, reaching out towards the dust that Bucky had just become, pleading with a god that he no longer believes in to take him too, because how many times did he have to lose his entire world before his own heart finally stopped beating?
