Fiksi. A local Indonesia film that I stumbled upon netflix on a random day.

May contains spoilers!

I’m not really a “film rate” typa person, so I guessed I’m just going to write about my train of thoughts about this movie.

This was a random movie that I decided to watch after finding out that Joko Anwar write it, as a fan of his works I obviously have to watch this.

This movie won 4 nominations in Festival Film Indonesia 2008. Which I think is well deserved.

This movie revolves around the main character Alisha, a rich yet lonesome girl. Curious like a bunny, quiet as a mouse, but clever.

As described in Bari’s work later in the movie, she really is everything in a girl. Her innocent like face, her quiet demeanor, her amazing talent on playing the cello. A feminine beauty, no man would not be curious of her.

One day one of Alisha’s workers were out to his hometown, because of this Bari step in to took care of the work for a while. Alisha fell hard when she saw him, something about him lured her curious heart.

As her feelings deepen sadly, Bari’s work is done. But Alisha’s curiosity didn’t stop, so she decided to follow him to his home.

Only to find out that Bari already have a lover, Renata, a psychology student who have a deep love for bunnies, well that explains why Bari keeps stealing that bunny statue in Alisha’s house. But that will not stop Alisha, she will never stop until her curiosity and feelings are cured.

Alisha with a new identity as Mia, began to grew closer with Bari and founded out about his passion in writing. And she, wanted to be a part of his creative process.

This movie describes about Alisha’s obsession, a sudden spark in her dull life motivated her to get that spark just for herself.

She truly wants to be involved in Bari’s live, in fiction and reality.

Her dreams and hallucinations about her mother never fails to creep me out, the amazing acting by the cast and the eerie background.

This movie stir so many emotions in me, Alisha’s personality is amazing, that innocent like demeanor that hide her true psychopathic tendencies.

One of my most memorable part of this movie is on that scene of that old man on floor 7. The monologue voiced by Bari’s from one of his works, the cinematography, and the ending of the scene is heartbreaking and beautiful.

And the ending tragically beautiful, it fit my style so much. I’m happy I accidentally find this movie.

This was quite an old Indonesia movie, but it was ahead of its time. Hoping for more Indo movies like this again.
